Seen those on quite a few cars around here though. I know there is a light blue Audi R8 V10 on a set.

I remember the magnesium wheels on my Ducati weighed like 2 milligrams, shit was nuts.
Im not sure it would be good on a car though, since your likely to curb them and they have a lot of sideways stress being put on them. A motorcycle is always putting force staright down on the wheel.

So freakin nice tho. Man, I need a raise.

When I worked at BBS, they had a few motorcycle rims in there....those things were insane.

Is the buoyancy on CF good? in that case I'll take a set, or two.

Given that most of them are heavier than stock hoods...I don't think that'll be a wise idea :giggle:

I wanna see plastic/composite wheels. Seems liek they could make them very light and strong.

hmm i would think that the wheel would be carbon wrapped... not solid carbon.

Carbon doesnt have the ductility of a traditional metal.

I cut a chunk off of a VW engine block and light it. I burned longer than I though and it wouldnt go out, left an interesting scar on my old driveway.

Let me know when someone starts making them in 13's. Until that point they are useless for us.

i've visited an independent laboratory that test the strength/durability of new wheels that are trying to be brought to the marketplace. exotic materials like carbon fiber simply don't hold up like good ol' fashion metal. most failed miserably.

What about making the rim barrel from aluminum and the spider from carbon? That seems like it would make a bit more sense to me.. I'd be afraid of a carbon barrel on a tire machine...

Of course there probably is some sort of engineering wisdom on it that will descend upon me with the fire of a thousand suns.

I've seen a few of the UK-made CF wheels post-damage, and really don't like the way they come apart - centers and barrels. Don't know anything about pricing or the details of the HREs' construction. If the aluminum center is actually bonded to the barrel with a proper adhesive, it might have a chance. HRE centers are pretty darn nice. But in general, I just don't like the way carbon fails for a wheel. I'd rather have something that can deform significantly and still hold the car off the ground, maybe even hold air. For the same money as the UK CF stuff, I'd rather have a forged mag one-piece BBS.
