Cars-II
I saw Cars-II 3D over the weekend when my wife and I took our daughter. Quick thoughts
- The 3D was great. Some of the panorama scenes in particular were very nice. - They did a good job of handling the 'death' of Doc Hudson, voiced by the late Paul Newman. Not dwelled on, but handled respectfully. - There is car guy stuff all over the movie, with some funny ones like a quick gag with a Renault Robin. There were some shortcomings, and the reviews reflect that, but all that aside I thought it was pretty cool. Do not expect a film masterpiece going in and the movie is enjoyable. |
Saw it over the weekend too. Funny movie, my son enjoyed it. I think Lightning McQueen is playing the supporting role and Tow Mater is the star of the movie. Yeah lots of car guy stuff! Nice to see/hear David Hobbs as one of the commentator.

I went and saw it with my boyfriend over the weekend. $10.50 for a ticket, fuck the movies.

So many people joke about their "boyfriends" that Im never sure whos joking and who isnt. |
I saw it with my girlfriend. Went to a 9:40 show and it was us and one other couple about our age, LOL.
I thought it was really good. Almost as good as the original, and the 3d was really done well. Still quite a bit of miatas as cars in the background lol. Anyone noticed the new Fiat 500 all over the place in the movie? Product placement FTL |

Also, matinee shows are your friends. :) The reviews from friends for Cars 2 has me planning to NOT go see it at a theatre. Might rent it down the road sometime... |
The first one was my sons' favorite movie for several years. I've seen it start to finish at least a dozen times, and bits of it at least twice that. We'll be buying it as soon as it hits the shelves, I'm sure.

I've seen about 4 3D movies in the past few months at 3 different theaters, and that shit is fucking horrible.
The glasses (3 different kinds) all suck. None of them fit worth a shit, they dim the image about 25%, they crush your natural depth perception and make the screen look way smaller. The 3D effect is weaksauce anyways. I remember Captain EO at Disneyland when I was 10, back when they made the 3D shit jump into your lap before people started having seizures... that shit was legit! Don't even get me started on the bullshit 3D TV's for your living room, what a fucking crime. 3D can lick my nutz. http://www.jimhillmedia.com/mb/image.../cet-1-web.jpg |

I only went to the movies because I was also doing the Kawasaki ticket to ride at the mall. And I wasn't gonna wait outside in 110* for 3 hours. Rode a z1000, it was OK. Decent torque, but no front fairing, which sucks. I wanted to ride the zx14 but they only had 1.

That thing looks like a transformer. Whatever happened to simplicity and clean lines?

From the LA Times...
Since Paul Newman died in 2008, "Cars" fans have wondered whether the actor would somehow make a posthumous voice appearance in the upcoming sequel, Nat King Cole-style. John Lasseter, the Pixar chief creative officer and director of the movie, said that the studio debated incorporating the Doc Hudson character into the June 24 release but decided the best way to honor Newman would be to leave him out. "We have a lovely tribute to Paul in the movie," Lasseter told 24 Frames at the Oscars on Sunday. "But we didn't feel it would be right to include him or the character." |
