CF hardtop on eBay $720 / 5 hour left

I'd bid on this thing, but I just called two glass shops, the first one claimed it's a dealer only part, the second one said "Like $520 but we need to see the car first". :jerkit: Have any of you sourced hardtop glass before? C |
Can be purchased through Mazda Motorsports, or get a Lexan version through Axis Power Racing.
I wonder if it's lighter than an OEM unit. |
You wont find one cheaper than $400 if I had to guess. My bodyshop guy told me to expect about $400-$500 for the glass and $100 to install it.
The last CF top went for $650!!! I was gonna grab it, but I asked some questions and thought hard about it. Seemed like it would end up costing double in the end. So I went with the Autokonexion CF hood instead. Vash- |

Chris, don't you have the OEM hardtop? Is this a weight reduction decision on your part?
|
I have an OEM, but this would just be soooo cool along with the cf hood and trunk I bought. Let the ricer comments fly.

I would be happy to see the fitting with the glass? And the fitting on the car?
|
Look for a smashed up OEM hardtop. When I was looking for mine there was one a few miles over that had been rolled on the car. The top was smashed in half but the glass was fine. The guy only wanted $200.

pshh, who needs glass when you have carbon fiber. There must be some cheapo/ghetto way to make a rear window for that.
|
FWIW I almost bought a HT that needed glass, and I got a quote for 350 bucks installed for glass w/defrost, 300 installed w/o defrost.
|
Wholesale price from Mazda for everything needed to install the glass is $740. That is the window (non-defrost, $300) and the 3 seals/weatherstrips that hold it in.
The Lexan from Axis Power is cut to the correct shape, but is flat, and needs to be heated and shaped. It is $300. I am going with a custom lexan window and riveting it in and using silicone to seal it up. It's on my list of things to do. |

It's a DEALER, so that is already implied. It was the same price from 3 of the local Mazda dealers here. I have also called 10+ glass-repair places, and none of them can get the parts, and tell me to contact Mazda. |
My point was that it's not w'sale pricing. It's actually retail plus. :jerkit:
Anyway, if you need the stuff at less than 1/2 "w'sale" LMK. |
How much for the rear glass and seals shipped?
How much for just the rear glass? |
i think im gonna pick up one of those tops and use glass from my cracked top. or maybe ill just fix my top... will see...
