I need one for my Sat box

Harmony remotes are great. I have a 676 that I use to control my front projector, receiver, dvd player, and mythtv frontend. Works great.

Also bought one for my parents for christmas in '07. Set it up for them then, and just reprogrammed it a few weeks ago for their new av gear.

Also got one for my brother for his birthday in '06. He apparently can't figure out how to make it work.

Mine went through NIMH rechargeables like crazy, but that's just because NIMH batteries have crap self-discharge characteristics and don't hold a charge for long.

Good alkalines worked fine. Have switched to eneloops (rechargeables with very favorable self-discharge rates) and I'm now a happy camper as far as battery life goes.

I think I had it three months, and went through at least 4-5 sets of Duracell Copper Top batteries. I even disabled the backlight after a while. It was retarded. I might have thrown it away, IIRC it was a Harmony H659BLK.

Interesting- I only had to change the batteries once every 2-3 months.

Might be usage-related, though. I don't watch a lot of tv.

you idiots cheaped out and didn't get the RECHARGABLE one is why it eats batteries.

I'm sure if you search for "i told you so" and "harmony remote" you'll find a post by me.

at the very least, get the 880. it's like just over $100 at hamazon.

oh and PS I have one and it's flawless.

I got mine for free with my TV is why I got it :P My Comcast HDTV remote does a good job controlling all three components i need, I just need a separate remote for my receiver, not a big deal.

I personally have the 880 (which has a rechargable batt installed) and I love it.
Accessories - Logitech Harmony 880 Advanced Universal Remote HD Ready ( 966187-0215 ) (Harmony / Logitech) - eCOST.com - electronics, computers, laptops, mp3 players

I gave my Dad the 520 - regular batt...he loves his.
Accessories - Logitech Harmony 520 Advanced Universal Remote Control ( 966191-0215 ) (Harmony / Logitech) - eCOST.com - electronics, computers, laptops, mp3 players

I bought both from ECost.

I got the Harmony550, so does my dad....

IMO, doesn't eat batteries (changed once in 1+yrs) and I use/used it every day, works good. Mine was working my tv, cbl box, recvr, dvd, xbox, & dimmer switch nicely.

Stfu and enjoy

The harmony is the shiznit. Not sure which model I have, but it doesn't eat batteries. Change them maybe every 6 months. It's our primary remote.

Got one for my father for his birthday that year. Holy cow, best birthday gift ever. My parents love it. Set it up and forget it. And when they come visit, we don't have to have the "here's how the TV/DVD/Stereo works" discussion.

Hated the Harmony. I'm more of a power remote type guy. JP1 for a while, Then the URC remotes:

Amazon.com: URC RFS200 PowerPak Bundle w/ MasterControl RF20 and PowerBlaster: Electronics

To each his own.
