The shouldve given him a sedative and let me have him. Nothing would be worse for that guy then waking up strapped to a table with me standing over him :)

I wonder how many inmates are serving life sentences or are on death row and what it cost annually to keep the people around.

i dont have a problem with life sentences if jail was acutally an incredibly horrible place to live out your years.

I read somewhere that it was at least $35k a year.

18psi 07-22-2010 10:27 AM

per person?

This.

Texas usually has somewhere between 200-300 people on death row, and it costs between $25-45K annually to house each prisoner.

That's how I got it the first time now that I think about it. His dad was just a little weirded out by it, but I wanted my parts and Chucky had fallen off the map.

No, that's the group rate. Fifth inmate is free.

...

Yeah, per person. I know, right?

levnubhin 07-22-2010 10:42 AM

That's an insane amount of money.

Just for reference there have been studies on the costs of keeping someone in jail for life or killing them. It is actually cheaper to just to throw them in jail. When you sentence someone to death they end up spending an insane amount of money on appeals and new trials to actually make sure they are guilty.

saga comes to an end... maybe, but this thread is FAR from over

I think in the interest of giving the family closure they should allow the father some quality time with him. To make it really interesting the father should be allowed a baseball bat and soldering iron.

If that was my kid he killed, I'd want revenge.
