Acupuncture
So... I have jumper's knee after like 8-9 years of volleyball. It's getting to the point where I can't sit without pain. Anyway one of my friends said he had the same thing and acupuncture really helped him. I figured...the best place for medical advice is the turbo miata boards. Anyone ever had this done? Good results?

did they stick you in the opioid receptors?
bradsauce, I say try it. you can probably get covered under an altnernative care clause and just pay the copay you normally pay. if not, it's probably cheap anyway.
you could also find a good sports med doctor / arthro surgeon to get a second (third?) opinion.

#1 What have you tried so far? Physical therapy? Injections? Meds?
#2 In general, I don't buy most alternative medicine stuff, BUT, accupunture for pain is another story. Have you ever watched those Discovery channel shows where they do surgery on animals with nothing but accupuncture. It's pretty hard to call it a placebo effect when they are slicing a pig open and the animal is just lying there not squealing like mad.

your fault for not doing the research, its not going to help with **** like smoking.
If you have muscle aches, nerve related problems and etc then maybe.
My dad had third nerve palsy effect one eye, it was closed for like a month and the doctors couldn't do anything for him except saying wait or try acupuncture. Started going to acupuncture and progress was shown very quickly.

First off, I assume that you are not still playing volleyball while it hurts, or you are simply controlling the pain rather than treating the problem. Not saying that you can't play later, but if you keep re-aggravating it, then nothing will make it "better."
I'd start with a infra-patella strap (aka counterforce brace) to offload the tendon (it's like a tennis elbow brace, but for the kneecap tendon), and probably get a cortisone injection right before a course of physical therapy with a really good therapist. Worst case scenerio is an operation where they remove a portion of the kneecap tendon.

I personally have no experience with accupuncture. I have seen others who have had excellent results. If I were you I would get a consultation from an Accupuncturist to determine if they will be of some help to you. The PT/Accupuncturist mentioned might be the best sellection as this person would have more first hand knowledge about your condition.
I would also try Micro-Current. I am not a big fan of alopathic medicine, but it has its place.
Good luck with this, but rest is realy what you need.

I have had acupuncture a few times an recomend to to everyone. I used to pinch my sciatic nerve often, to the point of once a week. Three treatment of acupunture and it solved the problem.
In the past five years I have only pinched the nerve once.
By the way acupunture is been practised for over 1000 years (it is much older than 'Western Med."

I go to a chiropractor twice a month. There have been several times that I have fucked myself up while jogging or something (bad hip pain) and he has looked me over and fixed it with an adjustment. You might try it. Maybe your spine is so out of wack that you are standing crooked and shitting your knee up...

yes, with no positive results. I did respond very well to active release though. I have MRIs to prove it in my shoulders and knee. I went from years of suffering from bursitis to the point that surgery was necessary and was sleeping in a computer chair and unable to shift gears with my right arm to 345+lb deadlifts, 315lb squats, and 205lb bench press in 6 weeks of treatment. Then, after the treatment had another MRI to show what the doctors at the hospital call "an unexplainable recovery."
