Why not just swap in an SR20DET?

Enough said.

Why not just turbo the 4-cylinder you've already got in the car instead of putting in another 4-cylinder?

And WTF would you put a turbocharged, straight-6 Toyota motor in a Cobra, replicar or not?

And WTF do people think the comparing the acceleration in two entirely different cars with two entirely different drivetrains is meaningful? WTF cares that a turbo'd straight-six Supra can out-accelerate a big-block Cobra (with the aerodynamics of a brick) from a roll?

So, what would happen if you took the turbos away from the Supra? Or put turbos on the big-block? I mean, you've gotta play by at least a couple of the same rules to mean anything, right?

Why did I spend all that time responding to something so inane?

Al Hounos 02-13-2007 11:01 PM

I don't understand. misquote?

Braineack 02-13-2007 11:12 PM

I've driven a Factory Five cobra (stock 302)....believe me....what corky built has gotta be insane.

No, not a misquote at all. I'm dumbfounded when someone suggests doing an engine swap in the car from one 4-cylinder to another; unless it's like M2CupCar's 2.3L FE, since it's at least got a ton of extra displacement, it uses all Mazda drivetrain components and is thus easier to do.

Then I was angry with TurboPezzz for suggesting putting in a Toyota straight-six in a Cobra...I'm sure he'd love that Skyline motor in the '66 Mustang that was shown a while back (think it was made for a movie, perhaps?). Or the Cobra with the Lotus Esprit 3.5L V8 in it...it just don't make no sense (preferably read in a Southern drawl).

Then I became upset with all the ridiculously inane Youtube, Streetfire, etc. videos of some car with billions of dollars dumped into its engine beating another car and all the little ricer minions thinking it meaningful in some way.

That's al:sadwavey:

Al Hounos 02-14-2007 10:42 AM

yeah, thats pretty much what I meant.

akaryrye 02-14-2007 11:04 AM

The man who owns it runs it at Motorsport Ranch in Ft. Worth area regularly, and just bought a bonneville car. Only three or four people have driven the cobra. Corky, Trey and the owner. Corky only gave rides, but never let anyone else drive it.

I may be biased, but it is MUCH better any kit car will ever be. hehe.
Stephanie

turbopezz 02-14-2007 08:26 PM

(this has nothing to do with corkys car.as i think its mint.)
LOL,ahh sorry for thinking out of the box.its a "shelby'' KIT CAR.There isnt anything holly about it.its not a AC shelby car.

i just think it would be best bang for the buck to put a 2jz in.there capable of 700hp on a stock motor.plus they arent that exspensive.

im just saying what i want to do in a few years, buy a factory five kit,a cheap mustang as a donor and a 2j motor.

bripab007 02-14-2007 10:57 PM

Hmmm...I think the best bang-for-the-buck would be an LS1 motor...more befitting the nature and look of the car, too.

Al Hounos 02-14-2007 11:06 PM

LSx FTW!!!!!!!!! Wonderful engines. Great mileage too.

I've seen it parked out at MSR, but never seen it run.
