CR.net - idiots.
I usually keep my mouth shut and try to find some neat projects over there that aren't too "jDM y0!" but this is unreal.
http://www.clubroadster.net/forum/viewtopic.php?t=11808 Guy with a monster miata decides to spray paint and brags that it only cost him 10 bucks (looks like ass) and they all pat him on the back. They need a "/ban from life" command |
I hate to break the news to you, but 5 responses doesnt mean the whole forum likes it. I agree it looks like shit

Yea, I like flat black on some cars but that looks like crap. Although its not as bad as the before shots so it is an...improvement?
|
dont see pics.
|
I don't think it's so bad. You guys are looking at the second set of pictures where it's flat black, right? If flat black ain't your cup of tea then it ain't but some people like it. I am indifferent about it but I think it's a reasonable and inexpensive choice for a 15-year-old+ shit wagon with three different color body panels. Not every moron is going to pay $500+ (last time I painted a car myself this is how much just paint and materials were) on a $3000 car.
|
I don't see any pics either. Funny, a 5.0l mustang engine in a Miata is JDM? Ha ha ha ha ha
|
yeah i see no pics either, on both of my computers
|
You need to sign up to see the pics.
|
i bet his tract home homeowners association hates it like crazy.

He says it's "kind of Mad Max-ish"

I hardly think a miata with the monster swap in it is valued at 3000 dollars.
You can't get a loan for a $20,000 NA Miata, so if you had that kind of coin why wouldn't you build the Monster on your own to make sure it's done right? |
Yep hopefully this is just primer.

What people will pay has nothing to do with how much it's "worth", which has more to do with insurance companies and financing. You can add all the parts you want and it doesn't do anything for value. Why do you think people part their cars when nobody will buy their 1990 Greddy Miata for $7000?

I bet you could find an insurance company who would cover the actual cost for you for a lot of money. Just takes a few receipts and appraisals. it's like a house. most houses aren't worth a million bucks. They're worth what you'll pay for them though. even the appraisers dont give real numbers anymore. who cares? if it's what you expect to get they just tell you "yup, it appraises" and dont even mention a value. the mass market just isn't set up to handle custom cars like that. but I suppose the difference is academic right? |
I dig it more than the ghetto-ass multicolor dream coat shit he had going on before.

It doesn't matter that you can't get a loan for it. There are people out there who can afford to pay cash, and do so. No, I'm not going V8. I really, really, really want to. But it's not in the budget. I couldn't see any pictures either. |

I have been looking for a Monster for quite a while. The cheapest you can build one yourself is about $12K. Most with $25K in them (built motors, etc) sell for around $15K. |
