Craigslist thread? Or continue posting individual ads?
I've been posting my CL finds for a while now...and I'm curious if people would rather I start a CL thread and keep everything there, instead of posting each individual ad in the Parts For Sale subforum.
Pros: 1 thread to check Doesn't spam up the for sale subforum with possibly scammy CL ads Cons: Can't see what parts are for sale from New Posts list I'm pretty selective on what I repost so not many scammy ads get through |
I think the thread would be an awesome idea... Make it where only ads can be posted in it not replies to threads to cut down on the clutter. Maybe a sticky???
|
A sticky would be a great idea. You find some good shit.
|
Eh.
Usually no one on CL ships, so you'd almost need a region specific thread. I'm not going to sift through your CL posts, are they all local to you? Or just Miata specific? PM Chriscar, he's the mod to talk to about this ish. |
It'd be the same ads I've been posting for the last 6 or 8 months or however long. Nationwide, Miata specific, and hand selected for good prices and/or difficult to find parts.
In practice it means a lot of cheap hardtops, occasional beater/parts cars, and random finds like the 99-01 head I posted this morning or some $200 Bilsteins I posted a while back. I know at least a handful of people here have scored some of the CL deals I've passed along. Checking CL is part of my morning routine, and if it's not a part I want/need/can afford, I might as well pass it along. |
Honestly, if there was some deals and the CL people wouldn't ship - I'd be happy to pick it up for people and ship it... then again... not much pops up in the NOVA area anymore.
|
On another Miata forum I'm on, there is a whole section for CL finds. It works great.
|
we already have an automated ebay bot. can't there be one for cl?
|
I occasionally find some things as well that I'd like to pass on to others. I think a CL subforum would be awesome.
|
A subforum in the WTS section would be good, but I like new threads for each find so one doesn't need to wade through unrelated items. Plus, it's easier to post that it is sold.
I did get my $400 HT from one of mgeoffriau's CL finds. He does post good finds that are priced well, not "OMG Here's a $950 HT that I found FS". |
I love your CL posts.....granted most of them don't don't interest me or are too far away, but there are some good local deals that I would never know about since I don't search like you do...
|
I've scored no less than 3 awesome deals thanks to Mark's work, one local (not so much, but in driving distance), and the other two willing to ship.
We have "CL threads" on other forums, and I never check them, always miss stuff. I actually like seeing a specific subject line, regardless of clutter, and just deciding if I click or not based on need, want, and fundage. |
I'm a fan of the current method. Having the location in the title is a huge plus.
|
If we do get something, don't make it a god damn sub section, we have enough of that. A sticky in the for sale section.
I agree with gospeed though, it's nice seeing the price and part name in the title, and if we keep that up, we can just keep them in the for sale section. |
A subsection would just mean the ads get looked at less. Much prefer them just hangning out in the forum.

the only thing a subsection does is allow you to display or ignore the posts en masse in the "new posts" selection. like the ebay ones.
|
x3 for the current method.... Thanks for the effort....
