haha . . I just noticed this:

"The Borla style 2" reduced back-pressure exhaust system sounds like a sports car should (without being intrusive), and increases engine performance 10--15% (about 150HP). "

Exquisite throughout! When you see it, you won't believe it -- inside and out it looks like it was driven off the showroom floor last year! Garaged, with less than 65k mostly highway miles, this pristine 5-speed, 96 Miata has the extremely rare Torsen limited-slip differential for increased performance and cornering, and the following factory options: AC, Subframe Brace, Power steering, Power mirrors, Cruise control, Power windows and antenna. The interior is professionally updated with a $2300 studio grade surround audio/navigation system, including an HD digital FM receiver with remote, CD, Blue-tooth hands-free auto-sync auto-stereo muting phone interface, USB thumb drive port concealed in center console (music, books, et al). Six high-end dual cone speakers and sub-woofer provide 20-26k response -- You will be amazed at the sound quality! Forward console voice-activated Garmin GPS is 'on-off' ignition controlled, yet easily removable. This quality GPS has lifetime maps and traffic, visual red speed limit indication, and High-Definition digital traffic receiver with updates and traffic avoidance options every 30 seconds.

With 15 x 7 inch polished chrome alloy rims, Dunlop Ultra High Performance 205/50 R15 tires V-rated to 149 mph (240 kph), and Bendix semi-metallic front brake pads, this Miata handles and brakes extremely well, without sacrificing a comfortable ride. The Borla style 2" reduced back-pressure exhaust system sounds like a sports car should (without being intrusive), and increases engine performance 10--15% (about 150HP). The only issue with NA series Miatas (90 - 97) is SRS/airbag concerns, so the system is disengaged but can be reversed. Historically, NA Miatas are known for 300,000 plus miles with proper care, and considered THE most overall enjoyable and low maintenance sports car on the market. . . I've been driving Miatas since they were first introduced, and this is one of the finest NA series I've ever seen.

Individual's first view of high-end gear and vehicles I've offered, always respond positively, i.e. "Just as described!" Yes, the price may appear high, but most definitely comparable to the superior quality! Every day you will look forward to driving one of the finest classic sports cars ever produced, while enjoying the best sound and navigation system available.

State of Texas Inspection; clear and clean title.

Don't ask if still available; I will annotate if substantial deposit is rendered, and remove ad promptly when sold. No solicitations or financing.

Do NOT respond without name, phone number, and good time to call!

* Original Vehicle Window Sales Sticker and Owner's Manual included.

* Original factory sticker of $21,970 is $33,853 in 2016 currency!

Not yet.
I pinged him again, this time saying "Is the car still available? I have cash and I'm not interested in low-balling."

525HP LS3 V8 Miata

It's a 2001 Miata with a GM Performance LS3 525HP crate motor. I bought it last year from the mechanic who built it. It was his 3rd swap and it was done right. In the summer and a half I have driven it I have had zero issues with it. It's a well sorted amazingly fun rocket powered roller skate.

My wife absolutely hates it, mostly because my friends keep telling her I'm going to wreck it. No traction control, no airbags, it is visceral fun. A stock Miata is 2400 pounds. The aluminum V8 engine adds 100 as does the Tremex transmission. 2600/525=4.9 pounds per HP. See the pics for a chart of how that stacks up against the best cars in the world.

I'm tall (6'2") and fat (285 pounds) but because I bolted the Kirkey racing seat right to the floor I fit in it great. I also replaced the driver's door handle (see pic) with a spring loaded pull and the steering wheel with a smaller one so now my knee has plenty of room when shifting. It had both the 5 point harness and regular seat belt. Not that you should ever have it up, but the top is in great shape. If you are shorter you can drill new holes and move the seat up, or put in the stock seat, which I still have.
I have the OEM wheels with basically brand new tires and well as the G-Games 18" wheels with brand new Yokohama S-Drive 225/35/18 tires all the way around.

Engine (ALL listed engine parts were new parts, not reused/reconditioned when installed)
-- GMPP 6.2L LS3 Crate Engine (LS376/525, GM Part Number:1 9 2 5 9 2 3 3)
-- GMPP Engine Controller Kit (GM Part Number: 1 9 2 5 9 2 6 1)
-- CTS-V fully accessory drive kit (P/S, A/C, Alt., water pump, brackets, tensioners, belt)
-- C6 zo6 intake snorkel
-- Custom A/C lines
-- FM Stage II v8 conversion cross flow cooling system
-- FM v8 full exhaust (headers to exhaust tips)
-- FM v8 fuel pump kit
-- FM v8 oil pan
-- FM v8 P/S conversion kit

Driveline
-- remanufactured t56 Tremec 6-speed manual transmission (build to OEM spec with only OEM replacement parts)
-- Custom aluminum driveshaft
-- LS7 Clutch Kit
-- FM v8 LSx clutch master cylinder Kit
-- RX7 TurboII Torsen 3.7 LSD
-- Rear axles
-- Rear hubs

Suspension / Chassis
-- v8roadsters LSx engine installation kit
-- FM v8 front swaybar
-- Adjustable endlinks
-- BossFrog Frog Arms
-- FM v-Maxx TrackPak Coilovers
-- Energy Suspension Poly Bushings

The AC is the factory unit that came with the crate motor, but I never put a belt on it, because I never have the top up. I NEVER drive this in the rain because it is insane enough w/o additional loss of traction from wet roads. It has a custom radiator and hood vents to allow the air to pass thru. Never any overheating issues, even on the hottest summer days.

I bought it with 5k miles on the engine and I've put another 5k on it. Body has 127k.
If you are interested I'm happy to give you a test ride but no else drives it until they have bought it.
This is the funnest car I have ever owned, and I've owned a lot of great cars.

If you wanted to duplicate this car Flyin' Miata in Denver would charge you $50k and plus the cost of the Miata.

I am selling because I promised my wife I would.

Trades: A newer Class B or Class C motorhome. If it's nice enough we can do car + $$ = RV. Work truck or van. Something big enough to haul 4x8 plywood.

If the ad is up it's still for sale and no I don't need any help selling it.

I'm over in Grand Rapids. I bought this car in Chicago and trailered it home, but that was in February 2015. I would not hesitate to drive the 3 hours to Chicago as long as there was 0% of rain.

With those wheels, the style bar, and steering wheel, I would have expected a 302.

I like the duct tape on the center console. Gotta keep them cup holders closed what with all the brutal torques

I'd guess the swap was done by a competent mechanic, and this guy bought it and riced it up. The good news is most of it is reversible or relatively easy to fix

I wonder how many Miatas have ever had a Kirkey seat and a style bar installed at the same time.

Ha. Definitely some hokey bits, but all new parts and such, that's really not a horrible deal.

Woo.

$27.5k for what I expect is a very fast Miata, with a few ricer bits tacked onto it.

Hmm....

I'll admit, when I see that kind of thing I can't help but think to myself how much I'd rather spend $27.5k on something like this:

I would think of it as less than than sum of its parts. It is in such poor taste that you could spend a lot of time just getting back to basics. Why bother when there are other miatas.

Because removing a style bar, and swapping the wheels, door panel, shift ****, and steering wheels is a whole hell of a lot less work than an LSx swap?

And buying a 911 (or a Corvette, or whatever tickles your pickle) is even less work still.

I'm all for the "let's make a slow car go fast" thing, but only insofar as it's a labor-of-love sort of thing.

If my checkbook was the most-used tool in my toolbox, there's no way in hell I'd pay money for someone else's science-fair project.

Totally disagree. Similar cars with correct wheels ($1200 including tires, minus what you can sell those boat anchors for) a proper roll bar (

Totally disagree. Similar cars with correct wheels ($1200 including tires, minus what you can sell those boat anchors for) a proper roll bar (<$500) and a stock steering wheel ($100) sell for $30k or more on FM's site.

Yes, this exactly.

And the forum's editing feature is FUBAR'd.
