Mazda MX-5 | ksl.com

"Litltle Blue Pill"
Full race built engine, bored and honed 20 over, less than 3,000 miles ago. Garrett GT2871r turbo system. 3" full exhaust. Flyin' Miata V=Maxx coil overs. Boss Frog Frog arms, Frame rails, Jackson Racing sway bar, shock tower bar, and seatbelt tower braces. Flyin' Miata Stage 2 clutch. 6 speed transmission and Torsen LSD rear end. ~376 bhp and 321 rwhp at 15 psi, currently 300 rwhp at 13.8 psi. MegaSquirt PnP engine management.

You might not be a turbo Miata driver if,... If you're looking for a nifty little Miata for you and your significant other to drive at the local Miata club drives and experience the exquisite outdoors, you won't want this car: it no longer has power steering. If you're a brand new driver and you've heard that the only correct answer to every automotive question is Miata (Thanks, Jalopnik), you shouldn't buy this car. Go get a couple of HPDE days at the track in a ratty Fox body under your belt before you tangle with a really stiff car that will kill you if you're not careful. If you're looking for the perfect roadster to accent your elegant new silk scarf and lace back driving gloves, think again, the coil over suspension and new polyurethane bushings are liable to rattle you so hard you'll disturb your perfect coif; the fellows at the club would certainly disapprove. If you're an oh-so-sweet Utah valley gal looking for "one of those happy, little Miatas", you definitely don't want this car for the above reasons and because no matter how cute it is, it just can't fit you AND all three of your besties.

Okay, now that we've weeded out the regular folk and the great unwashed, lets get down to brass tacks. Why would you want to buy this car? Why else would you be shopping for a 20 year old car? TRACK DAY Bro! Yo, track day, bro. Bro, goin' to the track day? Lets go to the track day, 5 sets of tires. bro. Yokohama, bro. Sumit -toyo bro. Nitto, Hoosiers, bro. Hooosiers! Got some Hoosiers for the track day, bro? You comin' to the track day. bro? Tear it up. CONES! Left foot braking, bro. Get a roll bar, bro.

All right, enough of the bro-gasm. The shorter answer is, this Miata is bone stock except for the engine, chassis and suspension. It looks stock, it can be driven as though it were stock, but it isn't. Power steering rack. Depowered. A/C? Gone. Radio? Unplugged. You wouldn't be able to hear it over the scream of the turbo anyway. It is ready for you to put your imprimatur and impeccable taste in automotive design all over it. I've done to this what you've been planning on doing with the used Miata you find in the classifieds, and made it wicked fast. This might be your third built Miata and you know how much time and money it really takes, but for the rest of you, you've got no idea what it takes. Estimate the time and money you think it will take to get a 300whp Miata. Got it? Okay now add 20%. Take your time, I'll wait. Now TRIPLE that. That number might be in the ballpark, but it is probably quite low. Even if, okay, ESPECIALLY if you're an engineer. There is over $30,000 in time and parts in this car. And ladies, if you're still reading, you will need approximately the arm strength of a small lowland gorilla to steer this thing at low speeds. Hey, your call. I'm just sayin'. Mind you, the Pill doesn't have to be driven balls out, all the time. She'll putter around happily enough if you short shift, but put your foot in it and she screams. And it is LOUD! Really loud. I peed my pants a little the first time I heard it. To heck with the Rapture the Pill will wake the dead, and they will be pissed! Also, God forbid you should forget and stomp on the go pedal in any kind of curve, 'cause snap oversteer is just a heartbeat away. Buy the car, don't buy the car, its up to you. Just know what you're getting in to.

Rides given to serious buyers. Test drive with $8700 deposit. Not interested in trades unless its for a similar value '99 or later Land Cruiser with lockers.

Here we have an individual that thinks he can sell a 91 Miata for 9500, or you can give him your factory hardtop Mazdaspeed Miata with less than 50K miles in trade. Or you can give him a 5spd NB with hardtop, less than 70K miles, and $2000 cash. This is all because he is going to rebuild and polish the NA from the ground up...

I should offer him a trade just to get him all riled up. Wow. What is going through his mind?
