Cuban cigars

What, in your opinion, are the best of the best of the cuban cigars? I'm looking for a present for my father, he could really use something like this right now. Don't feel like sharing the story.

Thoughts?

Cohiba's are really good and are the most popular Cubans... Cabanas are also supposed to be great, but I have tried them.

To be honest, I have yet to find any that will knock my socks off. I've smoked my share of Cuban Romeo Y Julieta and they are not too horrible.

Just a suggestion, when I want to get my father something special I get him something that you cannot buy. One year for Christmas I taught him how to make a set of lock picks out of a hacksaw blade and that little metal strip that you find in a windshield wiper. After we made the set I showed him how to pick a lock. I had to learn how to do all this stuff first in order to show him how to do it. He really enjoyed the present.

If he enjoys cigars then you might consider giving him a gift of "how to flavor a cigar" (see my post on this in the other cigar thread) or "how to build a coolerdor (same post). Trust me, your father doesn't want you to buy something for him. He wants to spend time with you. It is the best gift you can get him. Every time he sees what you guys made together he will smile. A stinky ass over hyped cigar can't give him that.

The best way to get "Cubans" is to have a friend in the Coast Guard, lol. Thats how I got mine.

As most have already said, they are okay.

If you really want to knock his socks off, get him some English cigars.

I've only had a Cabanas.. While I'm not a cigar connoisseur, I did enjoy it a lot.

I've spent WAY to much money on cigars and I've had my share of cubans. You know what you get with a cuban cigar? Nothing other than it's from cuba. You get better cigars from other places. Rocky Patels are still the best cigars I've smoked. I still have a few hanging around somewhere. Or you can even get something like a Gurkha Grand Reserve. I smoked on of those a few weeks back, and it was amazing.

Now just for novelty reasons on the cubans? Romeo y Julietas are great tasting. Smooth with a good strong pull. Pretty full body taste that is rather unique. If you snag a cuban cohiba, remember that they are a tad spicey IMO.
