Damn it! Cant I just catch a break!

I've had so much bullshit going on lately, have not been myself for months. After all of this shit, finally getting stuff settled down, and I just figure tonight a have a inguinal hernia that I will need to go have fixed. At least I am back on my moms insurance plan, not sure how she got that worked out, but it's good. Anybody ever had surgery done for a hernia? Isn't it a fairly minor thing these days. In and out in maybe a day max. Oh well, wasn't looking for major surgery nearing the end of the semester when my math grades are borderline sucking. It's never ending with this bullshit. Cars falling apart, I'm falling apart, people getting hurt/sick or dying, people getting divorced, taxes fucked me... Oh well, It's life.

Hernia freaks me out. At first I thought maybe it was just a fat pocket that wasn't burning down during my diet, on my lower abdominal wall. Looked all goofy and crooked. I started feeling around on it, and noticed I could push something back in and felt it go back inside, then I could strain my gut and the shit would swell back up. WTF! :vash: I don't need this shit right now goddamn it! Can't afford much time out of school, can't afford to be slowed down by this, but I don't want to push myself during the 4-6 week recovery time and fuck it up.

I've never had it, but it supposed to be minor in all but extreme cases. It's generally done laproscopically, so very small incisions and not much damage to the abdominal muscles, so fast recovery.
Good luck!

Yeah, I guess it depends on if its direct or indirect, or from the abdominal wall, or through another opening into your scrotum (FUN!) :yippee: Mine seems to be the first one, right in the pubic area, through the abdominal wall, not down in my punching bags. Maybe it is small enough and early enough now like you said it should be a very non intrusive thing, small incisions with a laproscopy (sp?) and maybe a small mesh panel to be stitched into the abdominal wall to reinforce it. I just hope I don't end up with a 4'' incision and scar on or near my junk. They better cut careful, I would hate to have to choke a motherfucker.

Thanks a lot got that. I Googled "inguinal hernia" and and was presented with a bunch of pictures of dicks.

No, I'm in school for networking/CIS.

Here's the weird thing. It was terrible looking last night, but this morning it has gone down to normal, or almost not noticeable. I wonder if being bloated accentuates the problem? Having been on this diet for a month and a half, last night I cheated and ate WAY too much Zaxby's, large plate, large order of onion rings, and a few of my friends chicken fingers he didn't want, then a venti starbucks (so I was VERY gassy and bloated feeling last night). I guess that would still mean I have a weak spot in my abdominal wall. I may just wait it out and see how it looks. Prior to last night I never gave it much thought of being a hernia, since it was never very big, maybe only 1/2'' further on the left than right. Last night it looked like someone stuck an elongated large marble on my fat and skin. I also can't make it swell up by straining like I could last night... Sorry for the "visuals" if any of you sick bastards are visualizing it. :giggle:

no, not a hemroid :giggle: I pushed on the lump on my lower abdomen and whatever was protruding through my abdominal wall went back into my abdomen. No fingers in the butt.

My dad had an abdominal hernia, just above and to the left of his wedding tackle. They did outpatient surgery- in at 8, walked out at 1 - and he was 75 at the time. It sucks to have to go through it, but it seemed like a pretty routine, simple fix. Recovery shouldn't be too awful at your age(easy to say that since it isn't me).

And now I know what "wedding tackle" is, thank you google/urban dictionary.

I'm just going to play it safe and see what it does over the next few weeks. I'd like to try and wait until this semester of school is over anyway, to have a week or two off to do nothing while I recover. As of now, I still can't see anything. I find it puzzling that it was so apparent last night, and now it's not. Which last night was the first night I had seen it that bad, so maybe I was just REALLY bloated and gassy. Now I'm paranoid about exercise though. I'm starting rope exercises, climbing rope, and am scared I'm going to strain one hard time and blow it out big time :giggle: I'll be OK as long as I don't wear a 40lb backpack of weight while I climb, I can already climb using my arms with no problem at all.
