Damon, I just figured out what to do with your new Volvo...
|
Moar!
Specs? |
Great Scott!
Niggling question: Why's there padding on the portion of the rollbar in the passenger side rear seat area? Between the effectively shut door and the exhaust, I don't think anyone's going to be sitting there. |
Damon got a Volvo?
|
Good lord, man... Is there some sort of background on this turbo brick?
|
Damn thats cool!
|
I am in love. Needz vids.
|
|
Man...I've always wanted a bad ass grocery getter.
Too bad my wife already wants me to get rid of it. I was just going to use it for the cargo space (CL finds), and consider turboing it after I graduate...but I have to admit it would quickly get out of hand. |
Out of hand is good!

I always loved those Compomotives.

Is that a Ferrari fender badge?

I thought it was a cock at first like those fagatron Miata guys have, but upon closer inspection it is a moose. |
For crying out load!! As if I don't see enought badly styled and farmyard tuned volvos here in Sweden, I now get to see a 240 Wagon at MT.net.
No, it has no potensial. It is 5tons of Swedish common sense, practicallity and pure dread. It is mind-blowingly boring and a source of instant depression. You will be terrified to take it above 70mph, because it handles like an elk who just took 3 rounds to the chest. Every damn farmers boy here in Sweden has one, lowered by cut springs, badly held together with the cheapest bondo they can find, brush painted flat black with a big stereo and a couple of drunk 14year olds in the back. You typically find them outside the local busstation or hot dog stand, trying to burn rubber. Yes, you can get reasonable HP out of them but they will still not be fast, due to weight and lack of grip / handling. They are not terrible as rally cars though... the sedans, that is. Where is Niklas? He will agree with me on this one. Just trust us and step away from the volvo. |

I'm selling it.
In fact pretty much everything in my garage is for sale right now. Wife and I had a good talk about priorities and our current financial situation. I've been doing very well in school this semester after a couple of bad ones...mostly due to not working for the first time in my adult life...but it appears the savings from my work this summer are going to fall short of covering the part of our budget her paycheck can't. Volvo is of course first up on the chopping block. |
|
That's a good looking car, D. We don't see many 240s up here any more, I think the rust got the best of 'em. It's a shame, they seem like good solid cars.
|
My first car was an '81 242 GL 5-spd. I ran it out of coolant and blew the head-gasket and my dad sold it for parts. I kick my own ass a couple times a year over that.
One day I will own a 245 GT... Volvo wagons are sexy and I don't give a shit what you think. |
I feel like shit for letting this car go.
Just traded it for a dirtbike...which is for sale: https://www.miataturbo.net/stuff-sale-trade-70/yamaha-yz125-53445/ Was gonna hand this car down to my little bro, which is what I should have done. Was a decent car. |
I had to let my Volvo go also. Maybe later I can have my LS powered 240 tow rig!
