Default Datsun 510 What's it worth

I pass this car almost daily and it hasn't moved since I have lived in the area 4ish years. I'm thinking about trying to buy it off of the guy but have no idea what a fair value would be. Might be a fun car to daily instead of the truck.

Neat.

Would be a worthwhile score if he sets the his cash price to something akin to the amount he cares for it.

Yeah talked to some guys at work that live in the same area and they all say it has been there as long as they can remember. And they have grown up in that neighborhood.

Hell, offering him $100 to get it out of there might sound fair for the owner. Probably run through by all sorts of vermin. Could still make a really cool long-term project.

Maybe the owner passed away and the wife/owner of the estate wants the things gone anyhow.

I have only ever seen a guy that lives there. From what i have read it is not uncommon to replace the battery and new gas after they have sat forever and have them start right up.

The big question will be do they have a title for it.

If its in plain sight, I doubt you're not the first person who's approached them to sell the car. So they likely know a little of what they have. Walking up and lowing balling them is going to likely get you turned away fast. From people I know who've "hunted" a few cars in similar shape, you have to get to know them a little before you make an offer. At least talk to them about the car like you're interested in their story. Given the other cars in the yard, they are likely attached to them and think "I'll fix it someday". That being said, I have no clue what a 510 coupe goes for in your area. That's probably a good question for a 510 group.

Was talking to one of the guys at work and it turns out that the datsun belongs to one of his old friends parents who got it in a divorce. Just had my friend message his friend for more info on the car. Small world might pay off
