The day that never ends...
...BEING AWESOME!
So for starters I fell asleep a little later than usual last night after one too many Top Gear reruns at 11pm (shut up, I wake up at 4:30am for work). I figured "well hell, tomorrow's going to suck." Well turns out I slept f'ing GREAT, and woke up feeling GREAT. :bigtu: On to work, where I had a very productive day, putting my 17-years-of-experience boss and 11-years-of-experience friend to shame, who both sat around chatting most of the day or tooling around on the internet while they made 1.5 times as much as me. I even managed to convert my OEM narrow band o2 sensor to a plug for it's old bung, saving the $4 it'd cost me to buy such a huge metric bolt, which I'd still probably have to cut down a bit. ON TO THE GOOD STUFF! Drove the 30 mile trip to my GF's where the car's at with almost NO traffic, despite it pouring down rain and being at the start of rush hour. Had a great sesh with my Miata, double checking a bunch of stuff, putting on street brake pads finally, and filling with fluids. I also worked on the intake manifold side of the engine bay. You'd think with a turbo the exhaust side would be more important, but really it's just oil feed and drain over there. On the intake manifold side I have oil cooler lines, heater core lines, coolant reroute pipe, fuel lines, wiring harness, a wire for my oil temp sensor, coolant sensor, and the throttle cable. Too much! I started with a cluster fuck of wires and hoses that I hated, and ended up with a fairly neat and tidy setup that looks much better. All this was stalling the inevitable first start of my engine that now has a new head gasket. I hated how I put it on, the head didn't sit right at first due to the reroute pipe sitting on the oil cooler lines, and then I had forgotten my socket adapter for my torque wrench, and after snugging the head down I had to go to the hardware store 5 minutes away and buy another one. But after all the worry, good news! No leaks, no smoke, and it's running better than ever. I only did a short drive down the street, as I didn't have my lap top handy to reset timing, and I had to meet my friend for dinner. Hot damn it's nice to not have annoying squeaking track pads on the street. BUT WAIT THERE'S FUCKING MORE! Despite being rush hour traffic and it was still pouring rain, I made it to dinner in record time (another 30 miles), after passing three different rain induced accidents with cops at the scene, in a state famous for it's rubberneckers. Had my amazingly good Philidelphia's cheese stake and IPA with my friend (monday nights are half off, so the total bill was only $8.XX) and headed home. On the way I stopped by Home Depot Motorsports to pick up my aluminum plate for my COPs bracket, and had almost the entire parking lot to myself while coming in and leaving for e-brake shenanigans in the FWD DD. DON'T STOP READING, I'M NOT DONE! After going to Lendingtree.com yesterday, I got a call today about refinancing my auto loan. Turns out I'm going to go from 11.9% interest to 6.5%, and go from a payment of $307.XX a month to $245.XX, including gap insurance, SWEET! As boring as it is to everyone else, I thought I'd share the awesomeness that was my day. Anyone else have a good Monday? I'm off to fill out my loan papers. |
My truck broke down.....God Damn It!
|
I neglected installing my MS and changing my oil for like the 5th day in a row. Sat around all day watching movies and scratching my nuts. I'm such a deadbeat
|
I managed to get the day off and slept until 2PM, now I'm dreading the rest of THIS day since it's 0545 and I'm still awake, going to PT in a few, going to be a long one.
|
Lulz, I got all y'all's energy, motivation, and luck! Thanks a lot guys.
rccote, my car first ran with MS while my IAT sensor was sitting on the radiator end tank with wiring that was only held together with electrical tape, and a few rags sitting under my unwrapped pnp harness. I got the MS at 8pm one night, and my car was running on the above ghetto setup less than 30 minutes after arriving home the next day after work. Get on that shizat! |

Just do what I did. Getting it running like that is easy, everything else was a little harder. Tearing apart my bumper to get to the intercooler to drill, tap, clean, and mount the IAT sensor was the worst. Than I mounted the MS on the transmission tunnel, although that was easy with some velcro from Radio Shack with tape on the back. Then wrapping and cleaning up my PNP harness, and making a permanent fuel pump wire. I forgot to say that it was strewn across both seats, including running under my butt while tuning before I routed it permanently under the dash. That's about it, not including tearing out all the unneeded AFM shit. The rest of the down time was due to, surprise surprise, my ghetto COPs harness I tried to run temporarily. Just get out there and tear into it!

meh...I just woke up, still need to pack my bags and head back home to my room on the other side of the country (still only 1.5 hours driving away). Ofcourse the car won't start because I never got around to adjusting the cranking table for this kind of cold weather (-4 degrees celsius now) and the battery is low...
I may resort to watching movies and scratching nuts today:inout: |

Curly you sucked up all the luck yesterday! |
Congrats on awesome day.
I BOMBED my Heat Transfer final yesterday. You must have stolen my awesome yesterday. |
I have had a bunch of days full of good stuff. Kinda scares me... either I'm in debt now and will suffer in the future, or hopefully I am just getting some random good luck.
Although my new laptop totally crashed and won't start anymore.. only had it 3 freaking days.. dell is sending me a new one though so idk.. guess it's okay. Getting my storage unit so I can work on the miata this winter.. hopefully tomorrow. Gotta fix up my accord to replace my truck for a week while I do some much needed TLC to get it running great for the rest of the winter. Then the accord will play back up. Anyways that's my boring life lately. |
