My outback was like that stock. Below 3K it was gutless 4 cylinder camry with 300k miles slow. by 3,500 it spooled and was good. Stage 2 setup has it beginning to build boost after about 2,000, and it's fully spooled by 3k. Still it's the slowest/laggiest car I own.

I don't blame you. The outback is silent, still is actually. You can't hear the exhaust ever.

Today was repair the outback day. I installed a new steering rack/inner tie rods, flushed power steering system, new fog lights, repaired windshield washer sprayers, fixed a small oil leak I found on the engine, replaced 2 crappy spring clamp-hose clamps with better ones as constant-tension clamps were leaking a bit, and did a DIY toe alignment/steering wheel straightening, and also found the clunking noise it's been making- it was the stupid caliper slider pins. I removed/cleaned/greased them and now they are silent. If they ever make a sound again I'm replacing the brackets/pins.

Funny thing is I took measurements when I put the new rack in and put the tie rods in what I thought were exactly the right spot, and sure enough I had literally zero toe in/out! But the steering wheel was off. So I spent about 1.5hrs fixing the toe. Now have 1/32 toe in on each side, and the wheel is absolutely perfectly centered now. Drove it and it's better than ever, the subaru has never went straight this well and it's not pulling to the right at all.

Was a good day. Tomorrow I'm gonna do a headlight restoration on it and clean the interior, install a couple stereo related parts and then it's all caught up on maintenance.

I dunno if the new rack has a better ratio, but man the thing turns in wayyyy better than it used to. I think the new rack is a faster ratio.

I didnt expect to be welding on the daily driver tonight. Gopseed downpipe had enough after 3 years. "Stainless Steel" I'm not even sure it was 409. I know the puddle was very flowy I had to put effort in to make the filler not flow down hill and it was exceedingly bright when it was hot, like it hurt my eyes to look at it after welding if I flipped the mask up right away. And of course the gasket also **** the bed, so I'm still down awaiting a new one. Do note, I'm not complaining that my $90 downpipe only lasted 3 years, I'm estatic a part I considered disposable lasted this long. And its probably got another year or two after I threw 2 rods of stainless filler at that crack.

Sold my blitz nur spec and finding a catback/axleback of moderate loudness for a decent price is harder than I thought.

3 years ago I paid $200 for a prodrive axleback and this guy wants $350 for it

If anyone has exhaust that won't drone and give me a headache on the freeway, I will buy it off of you.

That's cause the market is flooded with ebay and china knockoff junk, and the people that buy quality parts end up having to buy new each time, so the supply for quality used parts is smaller, etc.

It's kinda funny though, the prices just keep going up, on both the quality parts and good condition used subarus.

People selling their 05 sti's for 22-24 grand, I'm like BUWAHAHAHAHA

Have you looked at vf turbo's? They were 250-350 for years and years, now these crazy kids are selling janky rebuilt or high mileage units for 450+

I sold my '09 for $15,250. I was pretty happy about that. But I did notice STi's closer to $30K when I was pricing the market. Kinda crazy. There were even some 09-10 WRXes listing for over 20K with 80-100,000 miles.

Around my area ~2005 STIs with over 100k miles were asking 20-24, looked in SoCal and it was similar pricing. I got mine with 45k for 21.5 and I consider that a steal compared to what I would've paid for a high mileage modded to **** example.

There was a really nice 2005 STI in Arizona with 25k miles for 27k, but 27k for a 10 year old car = GG
If I wasn't so busy I'd probably sell it and build another Miata

Base model with no options MSRP is $36k. Just special order one.

That's what I did '13 GT Track pack. Ordered a base, with no options except the Track pack and paid $2k under MSRP.

It seems simple enough to get an sti for 36k otd until you actually try it, here in CA at least. (not sure how the market is elsewhere)

The BRZ is the 4th new car I've purchased in the last 5.5 years.

I've never had a problem getting any of them OTD for at least $1500 under MSRP.

'10 Speed3, '11 Frontier Pro-4X, '13 GT Mustang, '15 BRZ Limited. And the Mustang was special ordered and the BRZ hadn't even made it to the dock yet.

If I get a chance on Saturday, I may go by the local Subaru dealer where I got my BRZ and see what they'd do on a new STi. Just for the sake of comparison.

How do good condition used cars ever hold value in cali? Its not like new england, where the number of 06-07 chassis with as little rust as mine has is in the triple digits.
