I mean mine seemed fine at 106k when I did my timing belt and stuff but who knows. That reminds me I need to pull my timing covers off and check for buildup cause I didnt really research before buying my **** and got a gates racing belt since its good on the miata. According to NABISCO the blue paint/coating/**** builds up on the idler pullies and eventually stretches and breaks the belt.

Ive had turrible luck with the gates on slobabrus actually, and use OEM only.
Some people swear by them, so I don't know though

OEM should be the normal gates right? I know I got the gates kit that came with OEM bearings, the "less good" (stamped impeller) water pump, and the race belt.

I'm not sure I follow. OEM is the black one from subaru with marks on it. Gates one is the baby blue one.

Gates has a line of black "OEM" replacement ones as well. Its about the same as the Continental brand ones and a bit "nicer" in the hand than the Bando brand ones I've handled in the past. I tend to use the Gates black ones when I'm forced to put timing belts on things.

Gates has two belts. The one that's the same as OEM and the racing belt.

I see. then yes, gates black one is what I've used. 2 friends had their blue ones literally shred to pieces so I don't mess with those

Ugh. I used the blue gates one because I heard it was great.

WTF lgt people?! Why you not tell me things are **** when they are ****?

I'm still not sure I understand the deal on the blue belts. The blue stuff just comes off and causes issues? Can I do something about it, or should I really just replace the TB again after only 2k miles?

My experience is posted above about my 2 friends running those.

But don't let that freak you out, for all I know those were just random freak accidents or something. I personally just stay away tho.

I think you can use mineral spirits to get the blue **** off the idler pulleys and you end up ok. You just got to clean it off before enough builds up that it maxes out the tensioner.

1. I just picked up an 05 STI from my work for a pretty good price IMO. $21.5 out the door with less than 50k miles. Everyone on CL was asking 24+ for similar or even higher mileage.

2. I ******* hate everyone on NASIOC holy ****

3. Wat fluid is gud for STI 6 speed?

4. Who wants a 2014 WRB WRX hatch? lol

The douchbags cocktail is just for 5 speeds or 6 speeds that are starting to be not so smooth. Your tranny is low on miles, put subaru S fluid or redline. I prefer subaru S. I did put the cocktail mix on mine and it was a step backwards. I now run Subaru S fluid and I did add a bit of redline shockproof it is better than ever. Nasioc is hostile enviroment.
socalsubbies.com it's a much better place. good info on dirtyimpreza too.

extra S can still be had from some vendors.

also last one I changed oil on he asked me to run the andrewtech cocktail (not the douche cocktail lol) which I think was motul + redline shockproof or something. he said he liked it.

yes, 99% of nabisco members are blithering idiots. the ones that aren't are the ones I follow really closely cause they do some really cool smart stuff

I registered for dirtyimpreza, it looks pretty awesome. Not like MT awesome, but seems pretty solid thus far.
