haha I could never buy a subaru that had no parts or tuning available for it yet.

That one really looks a lot better than the regular ones though: nicer looking rims, trunk spoiler, lip spoiler, all those things make it look less like corolla and more like the subaru that its supposed to be

give it a mild drop, some wheels that don't sink in like crazy, and do something about the mufflers looking really awkward, and it actually would look decent

I believe that our, I, education like such as, uh, South Africa, and uh, the Iraq, and everywhere like such as, and I believe that they should, uhhh, our education over here in the US should help the US, uh, should help South Africa, it should help the Iraq and the Asian countries so we will be able to build up our future, for us.

So I just got back from talking with my bank about getting a loan for a 2004 STi. Will find out Wednesday if it's approved or not, and if it is I'll be flying down to North Carolina to take a look at a car.

Anything you guys would suggest to look out for on an 04 STI specifically? Doing some reading right now but curious about personal opinions.

Couple issues unique to the 04 MY STI:

The 4th and 5th gear syncros wear quickly (there is a TSB).

There is also a TSB for a small filter in the oil line to the turbo. Issue typically surfaces when oil changes are neglected.

ALL year Subaru paint blows, so expect knicks and chips in the paint.

You likely know this, but just in case; the hubs are 4x100 and the BBS wheels are 7.5" wide (05-07 has identical looking 5x114.3 8" wide BBS wheels). The 04's interior did not include floor mats or a stereo as standard.

The '05 is arguably the better car for similar $, especially if it's a daily.

Almost all the 04's I've driven in had 4th gear synchro going out

Do yous guyses clutchs act different depending on the weather? Both clutches I've had in my car have, the original clutch would only slip in 5th gear, but if it was really damp and rainy out it would also slip in 3rd and 4th. The new clutch, excedy stage 1 (and F1 racing chromo flywheel that hasnt cut my feet off yet), jutters in the wet when the engine is cold and just engages at like a different point than in the dry when the engine is warm, its weird.

I haven't really noticed that in my outback; the clutch pretty much just sucks all the time. Way too easy to stall that car.

I am on stock clutch/flywheel and I get the judders pretty often over the winter. Haven't noticed since it has gotten a bit warmer. Felt like I didn't know how to drive a manual

All i know is I can burn the shit out of mine if I launch. My brake light lights up when i launch too, but the fluid level looks good. I consider it the car telling me that I'm awesome.

also, my new tires turn my wrx from handling like a FWD into an AWD again. so many funs.

my oe 2.5i clutch kicks ass, best OEM clutch i've ever had on any of my cars. Never chatters either, engages predictably, and the torque of the n/a 2.5 makes leaving from a stop a breeze.

Awesome parts Efini, but my subaru is a poverty machine. The miata gets all the baller parts :)

So, does Subaru still consider head gaskets to be regular maintenance items?

Only on non-turbo motors.

Why only non-turbo motors? Seems to me like the turbo ones would get more abuse than the NA ones

And the turbo motors were always engineered as such.

if they were engineered as such they wouldn't have pistons made of tin cans and ring lands thinner than paper. but yeah, kinda sorta, lol
