So my friend (from Georgia) was speaking with my teacher the other day in class, in Arabic, and said that he was from Georgia. Our teacher said "Oh, so then you are a cracker" :bowrofl:
It was good for a short laugh while we explained to the teacher why he might reconsider his choice of words. Then it occurred to me to look it up tonight... Attachment 208348 :eek5: |

You are correct. Florida Crackers got that nickname from the sounds that the whips made while tending to cattle and whatnot. I don't take it as a racist comment at all used in the right context. It is more a true Floridian's heritage from a by-gone era. |
