Update, my dad bought one of these after I emailed the link to him. It really is a great computer for the money. He's proceeded to tell his friends and I think they've bought 3 more!
|
thats actually a pretty good laptop for the price. Its a perfect no frills laptop, which is what i like. ive debated getting one of those for a while now. my Macbook is getting lame...never liked the damn things anyways

I've been trying to buy a replacement laptop for YEARS but I can't find one that meets my simple qualifications:
1) Must have s-video out 2) Must have a volume knob on the front 3) Must have the DEL key on the bottom of the keyboard, not the top 4) Must be a good deal Yes, I know #3 can probably be fixed with some sort of keyboard mapping software. #2 is a must for me and it seems like it is a $300 option from what I have seen! |

Has a volume control above the keyboard (it's a touch pad.) and has S-video out and was a great deal... unfortunately it has the delete on the very top right of the keyboard. The Compaq and HP's currently seem to be the best deal in cheap new laptops currently and are rock solid machines for the money. Mark |
robert, avoid mistakes and you won't need the delete key :D
I finally got this laptop. It took 3 weeks after ordering and was shipped to a distribution center in TN. Looks like it was assembled in China to me given the packaging and "prior" labels. I dropped in the two 1gb chips from my macbookpro upgrade and played with vista for a week or so. Had some issues with a couple of apps running/working properly under vista so I wiped the drive and installed XP. Life is just easier now. Though it's an incredibly cheap looking and feeling laptop, it works well, good value for the dough. |
Wow, Dads one got here in a couple days.
|
maybe he got the american made version? :D
slow or fast, a dubl core laptop with a 1 yr warranty for $400 is sweet |
vista sucks...mac FTW lol

:yippee: |
I've been working on both for... well forever. And I'd take the mac any day over the pc (I do). I can't blame the pc (which the mac is essentially the same hardware nowadays). But I can blame windows.
|
Ok yeah I can settle with that. That's why you just bust out linux ;)
