Now that is genuinely impressive. Care to share what happened just prior to the expensive noise?

I will share.
I was at the final round for the year in the local Pro AM Drift series.
Everything was fine. EGT,AF,oil pres, coolant temp. Low boost = 14.5psi
100 oct fuel

I was close to the rev limiter. Popped off it a few times as usual at this part of th track.

Then just a BOOOOM!!! Then someone threw a hand full of nuts and bolts at my car
At first, I was like *** me, transmission again!!!
Until I heard my engine was no longer running and the huge cloud of smoky oil.
I happen to be be right nexcxt to the pits and pull right in. Small flame on downpipe from oil, I blew out.

Then oil just ran out from from under the car like a headshot on a violent movie

SO things seemed fine and then BAAAAM

Nice. +1 on all the details that lead up to this blessing.

NINJA EDIT: Were you running a harmonic balancer?

Given the duty your car sees, I think you were due for a forged build. After this, you will only have to think of transmissions... until you buy a six speed, right?

I think I was due for a build.

I did have the stock Harmonic balancer on there.

I also have a 6 speed now

Hmm. In for picks of the tear down. Wondering if the oil pump gears died and that caused the bottom end to die or what.

And put some pics of the engine bay before too. I wanna see.

What do you mean by over rev?

I have my Tech limiter set at 7200 with 2 stages. i think thats what he said(my tuner). spark cut and then if it continues it totally cuts the firing??

So I never brought it past there and I never sat on the rev limiter on purpose.

Well, at least "turbo not hit block" Unfortunately, can't say the same for the rod(s).

+1 for pics on internal carnage.

I knew the title would get everyones attention

I will get internal pics up.
It will be awhile though. I have to chill and take it apart slowly.

I have a new baby that I have to hang out with. So this will be taken apart when I have time here and there..

I think he means mechanically over-rev, like missing a shift and getting the wrong (lower) gear.

yeah that. either hitting 3rd instead of 5th or going into a corner with higher revs than your downshift can handle.

I popped mine at the dragstrip at 16 psi and a 50 shot. Mine was definitely knock at about 6500 rpm. Only one rod snapped and you could see the det mark on the top of the piston. Similar carnage. I had parts go through the oil pan too.

No, nothing like that.
Just in gear hitting the rev limiter from throttle.
Not into a gear too low.
