This is when starwars goes from cult classic to terrible. Disney was never good at making epic sci-fi movies. I mean look at john carter. That one could have been really good but they made it cheesy.

Meh... who cares? Disney has already ruined ESPN, but Star Wars can't get much worse. Lucas is just going to retire and roll naked in cash... maybe he'll make a beard out of Benjamins...

I honestly had to check the date to be sure it wasn't 1 Apr.

Who knows- maybe it'll be awesome. Hard to believe that ILM and Skywalker are now Disney properties, though...

How many of you nerds actually read 7,8 and 9?

Bonus points if you bought them as hardbacks on release before the paperbacks came out

I gotta say, I was a huge SW geek, but had no idea he wrote a 7th, 8th, and 9th episode. I'll have to look into those. I read dozens of SW books back in HS, maybe I have.

Either way, I'm with everyone else, can't get any worse.

Lucas didn't, Timothy Zahn did.

Timothy Zahn - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

http://starwars.wikia.com/wiki/Timothy_Zahn

The "Thrawn Trilogy" books were authorized by Lucas and LucasFilm as a continuation of the StarWars storyline in the early 90's to see if the franchise still had any legs. It spawned quite the revival and acted as the catalyst to start work on 1,2 & 3, and the "reissue" of 4,5 & 6.

Notice Zahn has no writing credits for 1,2 & 3, that would be your boy Lucas again

The Thrawn Trilogy was great... but I don't really want to see it as a movie. Especially if it is Disney doing it.

"In 2015, we’re planning to release Star Wars Episode 7 – the first feature film under the “Disney-Lucasfilm” brand. That will be followed by Episodes 8 and 9 – and our long-term plan is to release a new Star Wars feature film every two to three years."

Not sure if I like the new film every two to three years. Is that after the do 7, 8, and 9?

Well, if they are going to ruin the Thrawn series, they may as well make shitty movies for the entire extended universe.

inb4 20 Yuuzhan Vong movies.
