I hate my car too after what I think I could be driving with all the money that i've got in what as a $2,000 twelve year old Miata a few months ago.

The road there is what I enjoy the most. Not just the view at the end.

I think most of the things I hate about my car relate to the fact that it's a DD. I need something boring and reliable to get me to work so I don't have to worry about buttoning up the Miata in time for the commute. I've half-assed some installs because of that and I'm going to have to redo them once I do get a new DD (I'm thinking late 90's LGT) and can have the Miata on stands for a little while. Plus if you have a DD you can boost more since there are less consequences for blowing it up!

Really though, your GTO is badass, i had to go back through your VBgarage again. You ever get your WI system tuned or try another nozzle or anything?

I have the nozzle right above the MAF and I think it's fucking with the maf.

OK, I'm done being a ------ now, next thread.

lol...I see your point, but totally not even the same ball park as far as comparisons...

so you could make 20 more HP from a 1.8...great...but thats still 140 more than your making now.

I like my 1.6...:(

Time for a Yaris?

turbopezz 04-04-2007 01:15 AM

with the 1.8 you make 10 more hp and 20pounds of torque.but most 1.6 cars are lighter.

also dont you have a shop?

also go drive a v6 stang and compare it to my DAILY DRIVEN 1.6, 5 pounds of boost miata.

also havent you built high powered vws, miatas are probally the top 10 easy cars to fix .

akaryrye 04-04-2007 01:33 AM

I decided long ago that a boosted 1.6 would be more than enough for the lightweight miata, that is why I went with the lightest model year I could get and bought a 90. Dont forget that the 1.6 has higher lift and duration cams as well, and that helps with the top end.

edit: My stock 97 miata with decent tires keeps me happy when I cant drive the 90' turbo project :) Its really a blast to drive stock .. you know, like taking corners at the speed limit and stuff.

I don't have a shop, but I do have a well equipped garage.

The miata is fairly easy to fix, but nothing is as easy to work on as a vw...because it has to be. The turbo job on the vw was a fucking nightmare. Nothing worked right, and mechanically everything "almost" lined up, a manifold cracked, turbo blew seals, an injector crapped and ran #5 super lean for a while, it constantly blew ic couplings, and was a royal pain in the ass. Hopefully the miata will be better.
