The button is not always handy on the CC. Miata is a great example... the off button is the one that actually turns off the CC.

They will also almost always hit the brakes if someone in the right lane is slowing. It's rediculous and needs to be punished.

Slightly off topic but same difference, really.

How about passengers? They can be pretty shitty.

My cars don't have oh ---- handles. Don't break my door handle!

Put unnecessary force on inappropriate locations really bugs me in general.

Please don't:

Swing my car doors shut using the frameless window.
Place your foot on the door sill during ingress or egress.
Swing the seatbelt out of the way and let the buckle smack into the sideglass.
Slam the doors shut when the windows are open.
etc.

Most of these boil down to a lack of courteousness and awareness. Most non-enthusiasts can't comprehend what I mean when I say, I may drive quickly and I may drive fast, but I am not an aggressive driver.

When I come to a four-way stop, I often wave the other person forward if there is a question as to who got there first (to avoid that infinite loop of indecision). When I am in traffic, I make an effort to not block intersections (including those without lights) and/or to let a person turning on to the road from a parking lot in. I try to use the left lane only for passing and I make an effort to get in to the right lane quickly when someone is closing in on me - regardless of how fast I am going. I monitor closing rates and signal well ahead of time. I let people using signals get over in front of me. I try not to be the first guy in the right lane at a red light, because someone else might need to make a right turn. I drive slower in areas where there is often pedestrian traffic. I look well ahead in parking garages and maintain my lane.

Etc, etc, etc.

All of those things are about being aware and being courteous.

And this coming from the guy that triggered the traction control every morning on his commute when he had a vehicle so equipped.

If you were my passenger and said this to me, I would punch you in the -----ing face.

I will damn sure take MY time after a light changes. Look at how many accidents and deaths are caused by people running red lights. To say that you should be able to look around and see if anyone is going to run a red light is pure bull-----.

Oh, just remembered one that gets me every time.

Approaching a 4 way stop. Another car approaching at right angle, reaches stop sign 4-5 seconds before I reach my stop sign. Car then waits until I reach my stop sign and come to a complete stop before continuing through intersection, requiring me to wait for them to clear the intersection before I can continue through.

I know it costs me all of 5 seconds, but it aggravates me to no end.

Sometimes I enjoy a 4 way stop. If I'm in an aggressive mood I like to enter hard and brake with medium street force, stop fully and get on my way. If you're closer than me before you roll in all casual like and don't actually come to a stop even though you "arrived first" I'm gone before you. I only respect the stop, not the "I'm rolling really slow so I get to go first style of almost stop. I also don't like the "2nd guy" who thinks the person in front of him who stopped did it for both of them so he can just go as well.

I also don't swear so when I get the finger for someone elses mistake (like trying to go before the "2nd guy") I get really offended. I mean if we were walking or on bicycles they would never flip me off if there was a problem. It makes me get quite warm for a second then I try to calm myself. Imagine if 2 strangers do the move to the left oops, right, ooops left side of the sidewalk shuffle when passing each other face on and instead of the smile or laugh that usually comes wtih such akward moments they said "#$%& you". People would be fighting in the streets. (Unlike Lionel Ritchey who wants nothing but Dancing in the streets....) The steel cage of a car makes for artificial toughness.....

Because I have a yellow Miata where I live I have to be carefull as I've only ever seen 1 more like mine and it leaves a lasting impression for easy parking lot revenge.

Yes, but that doesn't mean they are going to stop just because you saw them.

Not every situation is black and white, there are some places in my city where the stopping point for a light is recessed from the actual intersection. It's basically blind you can't see the other cars around the corner until you start pull into the intersection.

If waiting 2-3 seconds for me to have piece of mind in my 2,000lb death trap is just completely -----ing up your day, then I suggest you see a therapist and cry about it to them.

+1.

But that's why I vehemently wave them through long before I come to a stop.

But with all the horrible drivers in the world, how do they know you're actually going to stop? I hate that I have to sit and wait for people because you never know if they're going to stop or just blow through the intersection.

Agreed, but i'm lenient on that one depending on the mood... If i'm driving home at 2am from the gfs house, i wouldnt care however when the person is doing that on every stop light at 5pm traffic where all the cars from the other lane are going in front of him... yeah hes gonna get a honk...on EVERY single green.

You drive on the road, you dont play with your phone, or do homework or read a book or put on make up... You should be looking up at the light and be ready to shift to 1st when it turns green. If other cars are your issue you should be looking at them, not waiting.

How is it bullshit? You can't look at cars approaching an intersection and judge their closing speeds and if they are slowing down to stop or not? If not, maybe you should turn in your license.

Do you sit at each green light and wait until every single car in cross traffic has halted at the stop bar before proceeding?

No, not every situation is black and white, not saying that's the case. Special intersections, with shitty lines of sight or other clusterfucks obviously get special care, no ----.

I'm talking about the standard old intersection. You ---- around and take 3 seconds to move when the light changes, the person behind you does the same, and so on. Now I'm 4th at the light and missed it, because you weren't on the ball.

Isn't this thread meant for venting on what we find frustrating?

Agree with your points. Not saying I run around honking and yelling at everyone that slacks at a light, just saying it's one of these annoying habits.

Technically, if it is flashing yellow because the regular traffic lights are inoperable, you should treat it as a four-way stop - at least that is the case in Florida.

Odd how different states have different laws on this.

PA if flashing red, or completely out, treat as 4-way. Flashing yellow, proceed with caution (but you have right of way).
