Actually it is nice in Montreal and Quebec. Very pretty landscape and amazing food. Weather is pretty good on the Canadian scale of things.

I've been all over Canada for work and I like where I'm at (a nice forest like acreage just 15min from town) and all of BC, but skip Sask/Manitoba/Toronto.
The marintime are ok but I couldn't live there.

Admittedly we do have to many red necks and pickup trucks, but were slowly getting cultured. Give us time. Have you been to Ft Mac ? Believe me you would not want to live there. Alberta can be a bit closed minded and we do have our issues as all places do.

I love it when certain people think it's unfair that the rich states pay for the poor states. something about black kettles comes to mind. I love redistribution...only when it's into my own pocketbook.

On the subject of malfunctioning 4-way traffic lights...usually the right-of-way will default to flashing yellow and the other will get a flashing red. I have yet to ever see a 4-way light default to four flashing yellows. However, I do see dipsh!ts stop at flashing yellow . Come to think of it, I don't think I've ever seen a 4-way intersection with a single flashing light that was yellow in all sides but have seen plenty that are yellow on one and red on the other.

One of my favorite things are intersections that the traffic making a left on green has right of way to oncoming traffic making a right. Why? Because 80%+ of the people making the right do not observe their yield sign (I always check for opposing traffic to have a yield sign when making a left), and when you make your left in front of them, they get all pissy...and if you're looking to get into an argument, it's a great time. Or if you have a car you no longer want, one of these inattentive driver's can be found at-fault for getting rid of it. This is given that there is a right-turn-only lane..not a lane that is right/straight.

So you'd ignore the yield sign and then argue that there is no yield sign? Picture of such an intersection. The yield sign for right turns is pointed out in light blue. There is a dedicated right turn lane on the other side. (see attachment)

With said intersection, at no point does someone making a right have the right of way to someone making a left (from a legal standpoint). The YIELD sign for right turns ensures this. If I hit the side of you or you hit the side of me, you'd be in the wrong for not yielding.

This is a poorly engineered traffic control solution. A yield sign posted here only makes sense if this is a two-way stop with a "yield" sign allowing a continuous right turn from a dedicated turn lane which "merges" with the non-stopping direction of travel.

This intersection should be controlled by only the light. The yield sign provides a conflict of control. I suggest you write your county engineer.

A better solution would be a roundabout.

It has been too long since we had a hurricane in Florida for you to remember, I guess. We flash red as a default when the lights are inoperable.


Work is just over a mile away. It is a rough commute. If I am not careful, the engine will not be warm before I shut it down.
