Do you know these places? (east coast)
My gf is finishing up college to be a teacher and we are both looking to move south. So she looked up a few places where they are looking for English Teachers and I was hoping some of you might know they places and be able to tell me if they are nice neighborhoods or if the schools are good. Thanks in advance. (It's a larger list then I originally realized)
Alamance-Burlington, NC Asheboro City, NC Baltimore County, MD Charles County, MD Chesterfield County, VA Georgetown county, SC Greenville County, SC Hartford County, MD Harnett County, NC Horry County, SC Iredell-Statesville, NC Lenoir County, NC Montgomery County, NC Onslow county, NC Randolph County, NC Robeson County, NC Stafford County, VA Wilson County, NC Wake County, NC |
I assume by "Hartford County" you mean "Harford County, MD." That one's kinda nice. On the bay and all that. Wouldn't consider Bawlmer County, or Charles County, either, having grown up in the Bawlmer-DC area, I just have no desire to go back.

Stafford I know is kinda in the middle of no where, but I think it's the next area to get built up, I know Dumfries has seen a lot of development the last few times I've passed through. A lot of Marines in that area (Quantico). You'll be about 45 minutes south of the NoVA crew.
Chesterfield is just south of Richmond, so if you like run down cities full of scenesters, homeless, roaches & possums.... go for it! |
i've heard of baltimore.

Baltimore COUNTY isn't bad per se'... I work there and spend time there frequently.
Harford county schools are good, I grew up there and live there now. I would avoid edgewood and aberdeen highschools if possible though. |
Asheboro NC is pretty nice i was thinking of moving there when i graduate. I herd its good if you like being outdoors

One reason I love traveling to Baltimore for work, you can go to a strip joint for lunch. |
Alamance-Burlington, NC-stay away, ghetto
Asheboro City, NC-hick town, nothing is near Harnett County, NC Iredell-Statesville, NC-has nice parts to it, if you're into auto auctions Lenoir County, NC-very nice area if you like outdoors (Lenoir Rhyne good school) Montgomery County, NC-? Onslow county, NC-? Randolph County, NC-Has OK areas, but mostly just country as hell Robeson County, NC-? Wilson County, NC-? Wake County, NC-hit or miss, def has nice parts as well as ghetto, I personally don't like the Raleigh area, it's getting too big for it's infrastructure. IMO :2cents: I hope this helps |
Horry County, SC = Myrtle Beach.......tourist town

The city of Baltimore is separate from, but surrounded by, Baltimore County so I doubt she'd be downtown. But they call it Bodymore, Murderland for a reason. The farther away from downtown you are, the nicer it will be.
I agree that Wake County NC will be hit or miss. She could end up working in a school around Cary (Containment Area for Relocated Yankees) where the kids are mostly from professional families, or get something more ghetto. There's enough to do around there so you won't get bored, and it's not terribly expensive to live there either. You could do a lot worse. Robeson County (Pembroke, Lumberton) is a shithole. You've got a lot of podunk NC on the list. My stepmom has her Ed.D. and worked in school administration in Pitt County (Greenville) for a long time, and then with other NC schools when she took a job in the private sector. I can see what she knows about those school systems. Stafford VA wouldn't suck too bad. Some folks actually commute all the way up to DC from there (lunatics IMO). Come to VA. We have cookies. |
