Does anybody else gets yelled at when running/cycling outside?
The warmer weather is kicking in and finally can go out and go for a good jog and catch some freah air. All of a sudden I get all these tards screaming, bla bla... Its not as if I am running with pink lycra shorts 2 sizes smaller, wannabe or simply a douche. I go out and have the usual "normal" workout shots shirt and maybe an ipod to keep the morale up.
Still, its freakin annoying the amount of douche women and men who scream be it waiting at a stop light to go across, and sometimes you see them and its like, "why dont you look at a mirror?" In fact the other day a homeless guy was laughing at me and I could not resist and broke off laughing as well... Almost like, look whos laughing at who dork? Anyway, enough of the rambling, has anybody else experienced such "horrendous" experiences? Note: by the way the search n00b is priceless! |
It's not the activity, clothes or you.
They know you drive a Miata. Yeah, idiots yell at bicyclists all the time. 'Stop marring my paint', 'stop biting the lugs off my tires', 'Get off my hood'. It really gets annoying... I must be the target in a real-life video game. |
No, I run with a .38. My neighbor hood is decent, but I don't want the banditos from south of the border kidnapping me. Anyways, you see people running around my area all the time, one looks like ernest scared stupid. I personally only yell at bikes when they are blocking traffic. That pisses me off.
|
I have no problem with runners or bikers - I have a problem with bikers who ride 3 across, block an entire lane and don't move when it's a no passing zone and there are cars behind them.

...What are they yelling?
|
I can't stand people that are too afraid to pass cyclist on 2-lane roads with oncoming traffic. Your lane is 11ft wide, there is a median that is 1.5 feet wide, that's 12 1/2 feet of roadway. Your giant SUV is 7 feet wide. That means you can give this 2foot wide bicycle 5 and a half feet of road width and still be in your lane. Don't be a wreckless asshole and do 55mph past him, but you don't have to idle behind him waiting for oncoming traffic to clear either, for god's sake.

When I used to bike I got yelled at a couple of times, but I did run a stop sign, so I guess it was warranted.

When there are 3 cyclists taking up 1/3 to half the lane and law states you have to be 4 feet away from a cyclist, there is very good reason not to pass.
Also, your law is flawed. It should state that a cyclist must allow enough room for the car to safely pass without departing the lane while maintaining a distance of at least 4 feet from the cyclist. A good cyclist can easily maintain their tires in a 12 inch lane in fair weather barring a steep incline, if the cyclist needs more than 18 inches, they shouldn't be riding on public roads. Maybe we need a licensing examination that allows cyclists the use of highways. |

Granted, it's retardedly irresponsible, dangerous and illegal but it was the end of a long, long day, and the last thing I needed was some stupid fag in his aerodynamic helmet and spandex shorts holding me up on a 55mph road where passing is impossible. Not to mention he flicked me off with no provocation and moved in front of me when I tried to pass legally and nicely. |
it's not the greatest thing for your snail, but sitting on the two-step while rolling in a 400 whp Evo gets bikers the fuck out of the way.
|
I need to see a pic of OP in his runnign gear to judge. do you wear short shorts and have a long limp wang?
|
Sometimes I yell at people when I drive by, just for fun. I used to say mean things, but I found out it's much more rewarding to compliment rather than degrade.
"YOU LOOK GOOD IN PURPLE!!" "I LIKE YOUR SHOES!!" |

I hate moron cyclist that are anywhere 2-3 wide, anywhere the speed limit is above 30mph. I honked at 4 morons getting on the freeway the other day. WTF were they thinking?
|
I've been known to slow down and offer an attractive female jogger a ride. No need to burn those beautiful buns when you could pull my zipper down and have lots of fun.
|
I use to run cross country and track in high school and college. It was pretty rare that you could actually make out what someone was yelling so I resorted to just raising my hands in the air and yell/mumbling back at them. I figured if they could take it however they wanted. As long as people weren't throwing stuff it never really bothered me.
|
I don't have a problem with runners around here, but cyclists are a real problem. They find the need to only ride on the busiest of roads with high speed limits, and that have limited passing opportunities, putting themselves and others in danger. Especially when they ride in groups and take up half of the fucking lane. Go find some quieter back streets you fucking retards. I typically don't yell or thrown anything, but I make it known that I am not pleased by their presence by dropping it to the lowest gear possible and passing them WOT to redline. We have plenty of very nice back country roads with little or no traffic to cycle on, but they choose the main thoroughfares between major highways and cities. I have no sympathy for any of these idiots that end up dead.

Im a cyclist. Sunday is long ride on the A1A for me (getting ready to go now). I have been yelled at and run off the road while riding by myself on the shoulder. Usually it results from the driver being pissed off at the last peloton (thats a flock of bikes for those that dont know) that did ride 4 abreast and make a real pain in the ass of themselves. Its both the drivers attitudes and cyclist attitudes thats the problem. Share the road and max 2 abreast. Sholdnt be a problem
|
Even 2 abreast on most roads is too much. Nearly all roads around here have little or no shoulder, so 2 abreast puts the inside bike nearly half across the lane. Single file on the line would be acceptable though.
|
Usually would be the go forest/ catch him catch him/ stop this is the police, got to admit sometimes it is funny the things they say.
The weird thing is most of the time when riding the bike its people screaming from the the opposite lane. I do get the usual red neck who after passing me has two wheels on the bike lane and slows down kind of giving me a dose of my own medicine. I even get a car from the opposite lane making the move as if trying to pass a car, but there is no car to pass... I use mapmyride a lot and drive by the roads to plan ahead and not be a burden to traffic. Here we have many backroads and is very easy to plan a decent ride without having, or at least minimize, those who do not understand the law. Florida is a jacked up place, I am tired of seeing "share the road" and there is not a bike lane in miles, or if there is one will be like 400 meter strech recently made to comply with state regulations. I try to not run/ ride during high traffic or rush hour as that would be asking for it. The deal of like 4 or 5 bike riders on the road I do understand, I even get the same shit when I ride by myself and I do agree they are out there, bunch of a*holes. |
A lot of cyclists here are complete fucktards - the kind of asshats who wear brightly colored, stretchy lycra outfits suitable for the Tour de France. These are the ones who ride in packs and willfully disregard any and all traffic laws. These are the ones who should be run over and beaten with a tire iron. I nearly died of laughter when I saw a 50-year old fatass chugging up a hill in his baby blue outfit with his gut hanging out. And yesterday I almost t-boned some doucher on a ten-speed when he ran a red light and darted out right in front of me. My first instinct was to hit the brakes, but I'm trying to overcome that.
Just because you're looking fancy and riding in your little peloton and don't want to break your momentum doesn't give all 10 of your the right to blow through a stop sign right in front of me. If I yell at you, don't shake your fist and/or squirt water at me. That will just piss me off more. Obey the fucking rules and we'll all get along just fine... |

On a side note, I just dont want this thread to go a different route, my questions were in regards of people screaming for no reason at all, like complete tards. |
If you can keep up with traffic fine, if your clogging the road expect to get tapped by my brush guard.

a- I don't trust someone behind me that is that poor of a driver b - Now all the cagers behind this person are pissed at me for holding up the show. We have people in my redneck neighborhood yell at us when biking in bike shorts. I don't run in that getup or get off the bike either. I know it looks dorky but it's really the most comfortable stuff on a long ride. I just figure they're ignorant and their own life is their punishment. |

Drafting and shit, tons of fun Got to be out on the road by 7 am weekend though. Most of you guys would really like biking, once you got past the fag wear which is necessary. But fuck we are driving a Miata so who gives a shit what anybody thinks? |

Honestly, though, dressing like a fag makes cycling so much better. Even baggy cycling shorts aren't as comfy as good lycra shorts or bibs.
EDIT: This is not, however, a good excuse for wearing a complete USPS TDF team jersey and shorts with sponsor logos, etc. That really is just gay. |

I dressed up as a cyclist for halloween, I was so drunk I didn't even notice the cold, and my dick looked smaller than it already is in my stretchy shorts

I just hate the asshole cyclists that think they can use my car as a hand hold, or my favorite: Instead of passing stopped cars at a intersection to the far right of the road, they zip in between cars, and stop themselves right at the front where I am sitting at the light. When the light turns green, they themselves dont pay attention when the light turns. They also don't merge to the far right to let people pass on a 45mph road with a huge shoulder, instead; they take their damn sweet time pedaling along like they are going 45mph themselves... but they a really going 25. These are the only type of cyclist I hate. The inconsiderate pricks that think we have to cater to them instead of share.
I am even tolerant of crazy runners, the ones that either come at you in heavy traffic, or go jogging after it freshly snows, and the sidewalks are all covered in plowed snow, so they end up running in the center of the lane on a two lane road. I just patiently wait till I can go around. |

Problem solved. |
Yes I get yelled at.
I'm in houston though so like 95% of the population is large and doesnt get why I run for the sheer pleasure of it. |
