I got a perfectly working one at a garage sale today for 10 bucks.....Is there instructions somwhere or a site I can read off.....I most likly can put it to good use once I figure it out:confused: |
1.Insert tube
2.Pump the cylinder up 3.Create a bend -Michael- |
I tried with a length of ss tubing, the piping colapsed

you use the correct size die? should match the pipe diameter or it will collapse it.
|
Well, you really need to use a mandrel bender to bend the kind of tube your wanting to bend. You might try filling it with sand or the like and see if it helps.

:werd:
Fill your tube with sand before you bend it. The pressure it exerts back against the walls of the tube should prevent it collapsing. Same concept as the Normal Force. Your feet press against the ground, and the ground presses back up against your feet. |
just buy a mandrell bender at harbor freight...lol.
|
mxv is right. you need dies. like a 90* for 2", 45* for 2.25" so forth and so on. the tubie needs a path to follow while it's bending or you just collapse it.

Lol If you come and pick the heavy bitch up(80lbs) you can have it lol , But I'll try the sand thing when I get some more piping , Im going to the scrap yard to sell my failed attempts at bending lol , thanks for the tips guys , appreciate it maybe if I did it with mild steel It would be a lil easier duno, but hey If I learn to use the damn thing real good next I'll buy a mig welder and have at a roll cage lol,:bigtu: |
omg this will lead to the most hilarious rant. I can't fucking wait :x:

This is the type of tubing bender you need to make rollbars etc. As others have stated you can try sand but really you have a bender that is made for extremely thickwall tubing and not for exhaust tube bending. Mark |
Ya as Mark P said, that site you gave said schudele 40 minimum. Im guessing that sort of thick. I dont think your dumb or anything though, It would be sweet to have a pipe bender, but I wouldnt know what is good or bad. 10 bucks is a good deal on that.
|
Yeah thats a piping bender not a tubing bender.... You need thick walled crap.
Here build this. http://www.blindchickenracing.com/To...bingbender.htm |

There you go rican now you just need to build yourself a rollbar to show off your bending/welding skills.
|
that thing was $10 for a reason, unless you are bending some that you want to look real shitty, those benders are worthless :)

Good for rollbars/frames, not so good for thin wall SS exhaust. I really like those benders and that's what I'll be getting sooner or later.
