Don't you hate it when...

...you go to swap in your LSD and turns out it's an 8" TII LSD?

olderguy 02-07-2007 12:49 PM

You mean you bought an LSD to put into an open 1.8 and found your open 1.8 was actually an LSD already? Or what?

magnamx-5 02-07-2007 12:51 PM

No he bought a LSD for a Turbo rx7 and it has a 8 inch rear end. Has me worried for a sec but then he assured me it was just an issue with there weird order taking system.

magnamx-5 02-07-2007 12:54 PM

Damn i just realized with this set back your dif swap might end up being more expensive than mine if you have to buy another lsd. Who knew, that this was so simple it still wories me everytime i hit the click to send away my $$

i had to guys email me looking to sell.for cheap.
but i already have a car lined up.

Braineack 02-07-2007 01:17 PM

I was stupid and didnt read carefully.

Bruce to clarify, i had a 1.8 open assembly and bought a new LSD meatball to swap in. I had researched a bunch and decided to go with an RX7 clutch-type over the torsen. But I was overzealous and was focusing on the deal I was making and not the important details. So I ended up with an LSD for the RX7 turbo which is a 8" unit over the 7" miata rear.

No worries I should be able to pick up the correct LSD and sell this one off.

Braineack is now fluent in Magna, he will translate and clarify any of my posts you don't understand. Thx. GL man lemme know if i can help. BTW i would see if 915 can do a swap for the one you want might be worth a shot and just pay shipping.

Braineack 02-07-2007 01:48 PM

yeah I called them and left a message.

F20turbo 02-07-2007 02:15 PM

As a mazda guy you should have known the TII unit was 8"....all you had to do was ask me;)

Braineack 02-07-2007 02:34 PM

well i know that. I was just stupid and wasn't paying attention, I saw the model years, but wasn't looking to see if it was specified as a GSL or Turbo car, which it did specify. :gay:

olderguy 02-07-2007 02:38 PM

Magna; What did you end up doing?

Braineack 02-07-2007 04:32 PM

He should have purchased the correct LSD:

Don't you hate it when you gotta take a poop?

akaryrye 02-07-2007 05:44 PM

Isnt there a way to get the turbo II installed?

Braineack 02-07-2007 06:40 PM

Converting to a TII rear takes a bit of work, since it's 8" and doesn't bolt right up. Plus I think you need a custom driveshaft.

luckily i think I found another for the exact same price.
