Default Drove a 911 GT2 RS

Holy crap! It's amazing how civilized it was puttering around town and how raw it became when I got on the gas.Sadly, I was stuck driving in town and can't afford to replace a $250k car so I had to drive conservatively.

I've driven a non RS model, and indeed they are fun. Our detail guy from when I worked at Lexus would all the time bring in other jobs from other dealers, and we would all the time have 911's, R8's and other nice rides in the shop. Even had an LFA in there are one point. All of these redneck ballers don't know what they have. From time to time I would get to drive one of the random pieces he had in.

I drove a 997 Turbo with all the fruit (carbon brakes, not much interior etc) and Ill take a 250whp stripped NA anyday.

Performance was similar and I can afford to abuse the miata.

Even if I could afford the porsche no one can afford to thrash it and abuse it like a similarly performing miata.

When it comes to those stripped out race model 911's, I completely agree. However, give me any loaded 911 with creature comforts, and I'll take that over just about anything for a daily.

I wouldn't choose a miata over one, but:

I agree with the bolded. In fact, that's probably the reason many of us own one. Total out of pocket if something goes wrong is like 10-15k tops (for those of us with newer/built/turbo ones). Probably way less after the part out lol

Performance really is similar also apart from the supercar party tricks like preprogrammed AWD launches (much like an r35)

I really really want to drive a fast car. I've never driven a fast car - other than my miata. In fact, I haven't driven any performance car, any modded car, anything.

I really want to compare. I'd probably be disappointed.

You definitely would be.

Because: very few cars actually FEEL faster than a turbo miata. By that I mean, they're usually heavier, smoother, quieter, softer, etc. A 400whp turbo miata feels like literally a rocketship (I've driven and tuned a few 360whp miata's, so I guess my experience would be "close enough").....

So yeah. You'd probably fall asleep in my corvette.

Well, that sucks.
I'd like to think a 993 GT2 would be similar in rocketship-i'll-murder-you way

SLS AMG is exciting, probably not as much as a 400whp miata though. However Porsche Turbo S, the acceleration is just incredible. Also driven a C6 ZR1, it made the SLS feel tame and slow, utterly insane car performance wise. I'm waiting for my friends turbo 370Z to get tuned. Again its probably not as exciting as a 400whp miata as it will probably only make 100whp more. We will probably line it up against a 458 though, for giggles...

I can't get a boner over "sports" cars, honestly. I grew up around heavily modded cars.

My definition of fast is very, very different from most people. Like when my coworker says, "My friend took me a ride in his new camaro. It was soooo FAST!", I smile and say "cool. That must be fast." No way in hell I'm going to try and explain why that car would put me to sleep.

After driving a twin 35r viper and riding shotgun in Doug Levin's 1300whp viper, your idea of fast changes. I really, really wanted a chance to drive my friend's 500whp civic but be left for the Navy and the car is out in Texas getting ready to go into the mid 600's.

I don't know. I don't get excited over exotics or things like 911's. That's just me, though. People like what they like. No harm, no foul.

Agreed.
People look at me weird when I say I dont really consider my mustang very fast. Its good enough that Im not compelled to modify it as a daily driver.
I think if it was around 600hp it would be fast enough to make my butthole pucker, which would be pretty nice.

My buddies 6?? hp Evo VIII is really fast, but its so stable that it doesnt really feel that fast. It just hooks up and time warps forward a bit and the whole thing feels relatively safe.
On the other hand, Ive been in ~300hp stripped out Civics, weighing in just above 2000 lbs, being flat shifted hard, and it feels scary fast.

All that being said, I can image a 911 is awesome to drive. Probably pretty composed in a straight line, but thats not what its for anyway.

As much as I love my car, I'd drop it any day for a GT2 RS. It is a car that excites me. I'd take it over a LOT of other supercars out there....It's a visually appealing car to me too...something about it....love it. It's better than any Lamborghini ever made lol....

The scariest car i've ever been in was a 1st gen Neon ACR.

Yup.

That said.... almost no supercars do it for me, save for the Porsche offerings. There's something so RIGHT about them.

I had the pleasure to launch control my friend's GTR. That thing accelerates like no other. You can feel the blood rush to the back of your head like one of those roller coasters that slingshot out. Unfortunately tho, I kinda set that as my "fast car" standard and I doubt nothing else I drive will ever compare to that g-force acceleration.

If I were rich and had money to blow, a Porsche would probably be my make of choice.

I agree that supercars don't excite me either, but only because I could never afford one. And if I was at the point that I could afford one, I wouldn't spend that much money on the car. If I were rich I'd have several cars under 25k, not 1 100k car.

My bucketlist of cars goes something like:

lsx FD rx7
k20/k24 elise / exige / mr2 spyder
e30 m3 + turbo or a newer M series swap
22b sti

yada yada. Huge +1 on taking a Porsche over pretty much any other exotic though.

I've got a friend with a +700hp LS2 GTO and he would always talk about how my 330hp miata felt faster than any car he'd ever been in. I guess it's hard to replicate that light weight, short gears, no roof, tin-can, I'm gonna die feeling a turbo miata gives you.

A shifter kart feels much faster than it is because you are so stinkin' low to the action and feel everything. Miatas are more like that than heavier cars that are actually faster. They just communicate more stimuli. This is part of the reason why I have a Lotus 7/Caterham/Locost/MK Indy R/Birkin on my bucket list. Those cars being one thousand pounds lighter than a Miata really has my attention.

What I found so impressive about the supercars I've been in/driven is how incredibly stable they are at insane speeds. Total opposite of a go kart. You could sleep in the SLS going 120+, I don't even like going 80 in my miata.
