I wouldn't bet on it.

The NEMA 14-30x standard has been around for quite a while, however it only became mandatory within the National Electrical Code within the past 10 years or so. And it's not technically "ungrounded", since the neutral wire in a home is always bonded to ground at the panel. We've just evolved to the point where running safety ground across a current-carrying wire is no longer in vogue. Bonding neutral and ground within large appliances used to be extremely common practice.

By contrast, NEMA 5-15 (120v with separate neutral and ground) receptacles have been mandatory in new construction in the US since 1962. So any home build from the early 1960s until the past 10-15 years or so would be expected to have grounded wiring everywhere except for the appliance outlets. Thus, I wouldn't expect the home to have "no grounds anywhere" unless it's older than 1962.

I'm in for an answer.... Both my places are about 60ish years old...
One of them has grounded wiring. The more recent one I bought does not (I think it may be a few years older, but not much as its in the same area)

there's no grounding in my apt right now and the wiring is brittle- luckily the windows do little to insulate so the apt is constantly at 75% humidity and everything is wet.
