eBay scum

So I mentioned in the eBay hate thread how I was having issues with another seller using my descriptions. Well, now he's acting like a little bitch cause I called him out on it.

Quick back story- interested buyer for my listing asked me why there was a duplicate listing in FL. I told him there wasn't and searched around and found a guy with the same guitar as mine, using MY listing description almost word for word. WTF?

My listing - http://tinyurl.com/7m5wyal

His listing - http://tinyurl.com/6n6mtcw

I just wanted him to know that I knew, and that I didnt appreciate him stealing my description. I didnt even threaten him or anything! This is what I wrote.

"You may want to end this auction before it ends with a winning bidder, considering you didnt describe your item. Instead, you used my listing description. You actually copied and pasted my description word for word. I'm flattered really, but eBay may frown upon selling an item inaccurately described. Please refrain from using any of my descriptions in the future. Thanks."

I just got this back from the lunatic. 4 separate messages in a row.

"unforunately your wrong.....the wording is NOT the same.....
And the guitar is as described....
thanks for your concern tho....
have a GREAT day...."

"And the funny thing is the high bidder has the same guitar word for word becuz he is getting it for his wife.....
:)"

"Your just mad that yours didnt sell...And mine did....Maybe you should list yours different next time....:)"

"actually yours did sell...but i didnt even look at yours pal...
so please refrain from contacting me...I will block you for future...."

:bowrofl:

I already reported the guy and blocked him from my store before any of this even happened.

So I started to write him back and said "if I was local I'd just go shopping at your store, pal :)". I decided to remove the borderline threat, as my account it important to me. So this is what I sent instead.

"You and I BOTH know you used my description. You even used my text color exactly the same! I mean come on, how can you deny it?

And for the record my listing did sell to a stand up guy from New Zealand who was the one that alerted me to the duplicate description in the first place.

I'm not looking to have an eBay message battle with you. Respect the other sellers on here and use your own words."

I'm expecting a childish little bitch response any second now.

both links fail.

^^^^^ Replaced full url's with tiny url's.

He wrote me back and now I feel bad for even starting this thread. :hs:

"As i looked at the item i see that the person that does my listings for me DID use part of your listing...I am sorry and do apoligize...I disiplined my employee and it wont happen again....
Thank you for your time....
James"

As I try to avoid any type of negative retaliation from people like this, I decided to end it on a decent note.

"James,

Very honorable of you to write me back with an explanation. Most people would not, as I have had this happen before.

I appreciate your honesty so no hard feelings.

- Joe"

Whether the complete truth or not, its better than outright lying and denying it. So I can live with that.

eBay wants to impose such strict rules on GOOD sellers, but let people like this who put ZERO effort into it sell all day long. If they cancel the auction......they don't receive the fees. Definitely one thing I DONT like about eBay.

ask him to disipline his grammar.

Seriously? That dude just blamed an "employee" for stealing your exact description?

Here's what I believe happened, only because I don't trust anybody.
He stole your description to try to scam somebody on ebay.
You called him out for it, and instead of argueing with you, he killed you with kindness and made a false story up about disciplining some imaginary employee that he had list the item.
I am calling BS on that guy.
Perhaps he's a scammer and he just pulled the wool over your eyes so you wouldn't report him.
Then again, I could be wrong...but I'm not bidding on his, I mean your guitar to find out.

I hear you man. I hardly trust anyone either, but sometimes I have to keep my head up. Otherwise I'll let a threat or something slip and before you know it, it'll be MY account that gets suspended. Therefore I try and bow out asap.

The only reason I sort of believe him is because his store page does show a photo of an actual brick and mortar location called "gift genie". So its quite possible he has employees, although I feel the messages were written by a women.

Either way I feel some amount better about it. lol

By the time eBay makes it around to reviewing the violation I reported, the auction will end with a winner. I can only hope the winning buyer gets the guitar and has an issue with the condition of the item (not as described). They may or may not suspend or terminate his account, but that's dependent on 100 other things. Its a 50/50 chance I'd say.
