emergency! Please help!
according to the weather radar hurricane Ike is gonna hit the keys at cat 4 or higher. That would mean instant death for car.
as the car sits now the blower is off and so is the header. Would it be possible to attach the maf to the blower cross over tube and run it like that. I only need to go about 15 miles to high ground. The only other idea would be to jack up the car but, it would need to be atleast 3 feet and it still may not be enough. Any ideas at all will be extremely appreciated. |
Blower? Is the car supercharged or turbo charged?
I'm sure you can hook the MAF to the crossover tube, but what are you going to do for exhaust? Do you have oil or coolant lines dangling that need to be accounted for? |

I switching from the sebring to a modified fm3. There are no oil lines yet. I still need to relocate the throttle body back to the orignal spot.
I can bolt the header back on. I dont have any money for a flatbed so thats out of the question. A sof now the car doesn't run so thats why i am here trying to fiure out if i can just put the maf on the crossover tube |
...isnt the maf on a crossover tube stock? Id say the only diffrence would be the material its made out of and possibly the resonance(if thats the correct term...)

You can't afford a 15 mile tow, but you're going to the FMIII?

As long as you have a closed intake path with the MAF on the front it should work. I used a JRSC crossover as the charge pipe for my greddy turbo back in the day. Worked just fine.
|
yes you should be fine. Just make sure you have proper routing of the exhaust gases out of the engine bay... and the ECU does not care where you have the MAF or how the air is going from the AMF to the TB. G/L with getting it out of there..be safe!

Good news I found a way out! I found a spot at a school in sugarloaf key that is the highest point. Their gonna let us store our bike and viper there as well. I'm gonna use my beater truck and tow it up there! YEAH!!!!
As for the price of stuff goes...the fm3 is a kit that i built peice by peice on an extreme budget. I am a broke college student who does every thing on a budget. Thanks to every one for the advice. I hate hurricanes becuase I have been hit by every hurricane to hit florida in the last 12 years and I get extremely nervous when one gets close. |
