Ever get to lazy to swap tires

Last AutoX was a rain event so I drove up on Azenis. Its almost been a month and I have been to lazy to swap back to my street wheels. Anyone else do this? LOL at least I am not driving around on V710's

Rage_Kage 07-24-2007 01:05 AM

all the time, sometimes i autox street tires

hustler 07-24-2007 07:58 AM

any time I have to do anything other than get in and drive, I bitch.

wildfire0310 07-24-2007 08:06 AM

yea but its more after drift events. I get so sick of changing tires... sometime 3+ times at an event, that if I have enough tire left I just drive home on the tires.

Matt Cramer 07-24-2007 08:46 AM

I've driven to and from events on V700s before. But I usually had them switched back within a few days.

I drove my ITA Miata to driver ed events on hoosiers/toyos/whatever, with two spares in the pax side. The big risk is road debris ruining your pricey dot race tire.

btw- I used a variable speed impact gun over the weekend that pep boys sells for $80. It's 24v and packs a lot of torque. Worked great- incredibly quick. Labeled as a "goodyear racing" impact gun.

Does an event sponsor provide the tires? Or is this out of pocket?

I've never understood why people volunteer for the burn out contests. Sure it's cool to watch, but you completely hammer your tires. I watched in amazement as this AWD Audi turbo did an amazing 4 wheel burnout, but damn, was it worth $1100 to please a bunch of strangers? Would only make sense if the show were providing tires or replacement tires.

if the tires are shot anyway....
the 7 will be murderous on tires, lol.

Braineack 07-24-2007 09:36 AM

I'm too lazy to do most anything.

y8s 07-24-2007 10:49 AM

I have a set for the track, which I only have on the car when I drive to and on the track. I use rock hard shit for the street.

See my thread about my review of the 20 dollar cigarette lighter impact gun. Makes the changes a breeze.

No its out of pocket but normally people get away with one good set of new tires such as Maxis etc...

I been running used tires instead... normally I hit up friends a dealerships. For the last event I hit up Joe at Rspeed and got to a chance to used Marty's old rims and used tires. I ran a full day on the set of Maxis that were left over and Marty already ran a few events on them.

Used tires where off 20x faster then one nice set of Z rate tires.

miatamania 07-24-2007 04:01 PM

I just DD my azenis...so I don't have to change them between auto-xs...also, its more fun to fuck with STis in the mountains with sticky tires...:)

kotomile 07-24-2007 05:38 PM

What.. no one else has driven to the event on Hoosier 04s? :gay:

Nope sorry never had a set of Hoosier but Hoosier and drifting don't really fit... I wish to keep my diff and tranny :gay:

messiahx 07-26-2007 01:01 PM

I have Hankook R-S2s that I use for DD and autox. My other set of wheels have some crappy bridgestone all seasons, which are for cold weather. I'd go nuts driving on the street without my Hankooks on (I live in the country, lots of curves).

JeffGoji & Miyoshi 07-30-2007 02:58 AM

I daily drive and Autocross on my Azenis.
Life is too short to drive on slippery street rocks. :td:

Pitlab77 07-30-2007 01:19 PM
