Default ever wake up one day and realize that your job has completely consumed your life?

as I'm driving home from my 12 hour day, working on my cell phone I sort of realized this.

some day I'll explain what I do when you're bored. It's a long an uninteresting story.

Let it all out, Philip. We're here for you.

I'm still a full-time student, so I can't exactly relate.

Teachers work a lot longer hours than 7-4... that's just when they have students in the room. My mom rarely spends less than 12-14 hours a day on her school stuff, between 8 hours of class, lesson plans, grading, writing assignments for the students, etc. She comes home and spends 4 or more hours everyday getting ready for the following day.

I just started a new job 2 months ago... It can control my life, it's better than the wife doing it. At least work requires me to play with grease and tools instead of wallpaper and paint.

oh, we make money hand over fist, that's not the problem. Hell we did almost 2.5 mil gross last month, not bad for a company of what, less than 150 employees?

I'm salary, so no OT for me. But it's only salary when it best benefits the company, ie if I miss an hour I get to make it up but if I stay an extra hour to work I don't get paid. Lovely.

Also switched vacation "plans" and I LOST the 2 weeks of vaca I had stored up as of dec 31. Jan 1 I went back to zero, lovely.

that's not even the worst of it, lol

I'd have to take such a cut I wonder if it would be worth it you know?

Philip,

Don't sell yourself too short. You have a job so you can be picky - and (based on your earlier post) there are hospitals all over the place. The bitch is, are there any more where you want to live?

I still work hard, but we've buried too many friends and family too young to let any job own my *** again

There will be a point that you hit, and hopefully before you die, in which you will determine that your life and enjoyment of life is worth more than having X amount of money in your bank account.

You need to value your free time and happiness.

man I've had it with this ******* place. Time for a new job and probably a pay cut, but this **** is just not worth it anymore.

I can't work with amateurs and bosses I don't respect anymore or I'm going to /myself.
