Default Fallout 3

Is baller as ****. So baller I'm actually going to pay for it. As far is the post-apocalyptic rpg thing goes, S.T.A.L.K.E.R.s got nothing on this.

Far Cry was still better - not so much that I would actually pay for it <G>...

Yeah...
I'm the nerd who actually went out and bought the collector's edition of this game.
Always been a huge fallout fan and heard this was comming out, I was actually counting down to it's release.
The progress on my car is definitely suffering from the compulsion of fallout 3.

awesome game, but no one buy it for PC, I'm having nothing but trouble for something I paid $50 for. it keeps freezing up for ~20sec every minute or two, seems like the majority of the PC guys are having this problem

I got mine on 360 so I could play it on the "big screen". Had it freeze once for a couple seconds, but that's it.

Do you PC guys have rigs up to spec? I'd imagine it's pretty hardware intensive. Heck I don't think I have a machine that could run it right now. I haven't upgraded my crap for a while.

Does the game take that long? As I said, I stopped playing to check out Far Cry and I don't remember if it gives you a "% completed" stat anywhere.

I mean have you played oblivion? Bethesda (I know some guys who work there) are notorious for LONG games. You definitely get a good return on investment. My favorite quote from IGN's review:

"The only reason we wouldn't recommend the game is if you value family and friends, because they won't see you for a long time once you start. "

That being said, I've got my hands full with LittleBigPlanet for the time being.

The game runs flawlessly and looks amazing on my setup:

8800 GTS 512MB
Dual Core @ 3.0Ghz
4 gigs of ram

When they release the SDK this game will be stupid long and have much more replay value than it does already. The modding community behind the TES series is intense.
Plus the gore aspect is badass as ****. Better executed than Gears of War I'd say. I can't even remember the last game to bring it to this level. Soldier of Fortune maybe?

Runs great on pc, prolly not so much if you have a lame machine. But dont go blaming the game cause of your deficiencies. Fallout 3 rocks btw been playin it damn near every day since release. Farcry 2 blows sorry i bought it the stupid little checkpoints where you drive by, stop, turn around, and shoot at your pursuers got frustratingly repetitive quickly good thing fallout 3 came round

Yeah I have to say, there are so many badass moments in this game. Oblivion, to me, was the best true rpg. I'm probably going to have to rethink that after playing fallout and farcry 2. I'm really looking forward to the whole African setting FarCry 2 has. That and I eat the whole African rebel bullshit up.

Hmm. Never heard of this Fallout genre. I just checked and my "biggest" PC almost meets the minimums. I've got 1GB of RAM (XP) on a 2.4Ghz P4, but my video card (a dual-head Radeon 9000) only has 64MB, whereas the minimum req is 256MB.

WTF? 256MB is six times the size of my first hard drive, and they want me to have that much friggin VRAM? The VAX 11/780 mainframe we used to beat on in college didn't have that much memory...

You know, the funny thing is that for the past couple of days I've been playing Sonic the Hedgehog (Genesis build, emulated on my old PS2) and having an absolute blast. That program ran in 64K of RAM and 64K of VRAM. (yes, the Sega Genesis that was so bad-*** back in the late 80s had a whopping 64kilobytes of RAM.)
