Fallout: New Vegas
 

Alright - I'll start the discussion because I know there are adequate amounts of nerds here. Who bought it? Who is doing "hardcore" mode? :brain:

I committed about 8 hours to it on normal mode so far and I'm loving it. As a warning - the missile silo place = rapage.

Been absorbed with Fallout 3 myself.

Loving having the PS3. If just for Netflix/media center use.

I'll be picking up fallout very soon. I was a big fan of the originals, and I love morrowind/oblivion.

Awesome. Should be out here tomorrow. I've been playing Fall Out 3 to death and still find myself just wandering around to absorb the details. Still would've preferred some sort of continuance of FO3, now it feels like abandoning this and just starting fresh with new vegas. Oh well, if it's half as good as 3, I'm a happy man.

Download the expansion pack to FO3 if you want a continuation! Seriously though, New Vegas really is similiar to FO3 but add some nice new details that addresses some of the shortcomings of 3. Also, New Vegas has the opportunity to make it more of a "sim" if you are ballsy enough. Dehydration, stimpacks are not instant, party members die....eesh.

I've downloaded all but one of the add-ons. Most were quite good, but Point Lookout didn't quite get me. I preordered New Vegas anyway, so we'll see. I'm back home sunday so that hardcore gaming can start :giggle:

I'm doing hardcore mode! :bigtu: I figured it'd probably be more challenging this way. Fallout 3 was one of my all time favorite games by far, but after awhile it was like I was too high of a level and had too many guns, armor, etc, that I just ran around and fucked everything up. It wasn't a challenge after long.

New Vegas so far has been way more challenging right off the bat. Having to worry about dehydrating, and now stimpaks are no longer good for crippled limbs, makes it harder for sure.

I also picked that first trait/skill that said it wasn't for the faint of heart. I forget what it was called, but it said it shows different dialog throughout the game. I've already had a few things happen that I think were from picking it.

I'm at the silo place by the t-rex right now. Right when I walked in I got raped and decided that was a good stopping point and turned it off. The next couple days I'll be too busy to play, so I'm going to play now for an hour or so. My gf hasnt seen it yet, but she's going to fucking hate it for sure. lol

oh I want it so bad, I played the shit out of Fallout 3. But I have been reading around, seems to be kinda glitchy. But I am sure a couple of patches will have it perfect. But instead I bought Mafia 2, because I loved the first one. That was a waste of money. Fallout New Vegas is in my near future, I can feel it.

I've come across only one glitch so far. Jumped onto a sink in a house and got stuck on it. I just loaded my last save file from when I entered the house and it was fine.

Ohh, and it did freeze up on me once and the controller was just vibrating and wouldn't respond to the main X button to shut it down. I usually take that as I sign that I've been playing for too long. lol

I still have so much left to do in 3, now I have to get the new one and have another fifty billion hours of gameplay ahead of me

I have a building to finish painting. A floor I just painted yesterday that needs the gloss sealer put on it. And about $10k in parts ready to be listed on ebay.

But for some fucking reason, I cant find a way to NOT play a little fallout for a half hour or so while I drink my coffee. lol

I can't get Fallout until I finish Nier. I'm done buying games before I finish the last one I bought...with the exception of SSF4 because it was $25 on Amazon a few days ago and I had to...

Just saw this thread. So far I love fallout new vegas, got about 20 hours into it. Really wish there was more new stuff though, it just feels like an expansion pack.

Little word of advice, don't buy extended mags for the weathered 10mm pistol, theres a glitch that turns the gun into a giant red box with a white ! and it makes it hard to see out of. It's like they didn't make a model for it and thats the default.

Also has anybody finished the Heartache by the number quest? I can't get cass to talk to me about selling.

Oh and for those wondering like I was, it's probabbly possible to make it to Vegas in like 5 but I made it into the strip about 20 hours in.

Played the previous one.. tried it out for a bit, so gay. reboxed it and tossed it into my "will never play again storage box"

I beat FO3 within a few hours, only following the main quest, apparently the shortest main quest. I lost interest after that. It looks like I'm gonna need to give this one a try.

I played a little before. Just enough to get my fix. lol

What did you guys do at the Helico (I think) place where all the NCR guys are hanging out at? I couldn't decide where to distribute the power to, so I just armed the laser and watched it blast the shit out of all the guys outside. Then killed the scientists and went on my way. I'm wondering how much that's going to effect gameplay later on.

I updated it today, figuring it was a bug fix or something, but I had another glitch happen to me today. When I would click on the terminal, it would make the noise like it came up, but it didnt show any screen, just my guy like normal. This is probably just another one of many bugs to come.... :vash:

Should we maybe add "SPOILER INSIDE" on the title of this thread for those that haven't started yet and don't want to read anything like this?

Vash I sent it to the strip and the other one (forgot name) like I was supposed to. I plan on playing through a few times, this time im trying to be as inline with the ncr as possible. Oh and besides stealing, I'm being good.

I think I got maybe 15 or 16 hours into it! I made my way south, then east, then north and now im at Crimson Caravan. I stopped by Helios so I could fast travel back there to the that quest. I just wanted to get to the north side to finish the quest that poped up after talking to Cass


This shit has frozen up on me like 3 times. The dude that is following me around likes to get stuck in shit as well.

lol, yeah i gave up on that quest for right now till my skills get higher. i think im still at like level 9. :giggle:

right now im workin on the quest that takes you to vault 22 that you pick up from talkin to a scientist in crimson caravan. i think its called the grass grows tall or somthing.

i havent played much vid games since I got back from deployment...wow, it's incredible how much time I have to do useful shit now

If you want to earn a shitload of caps, go to Mcarren and do the "There stands the grass" side quest. you get 1200 caps for the the quest its self and an aditional 800 caps for doing an optional mission within that quest! (be sure to take a couple long fuse dynimite sticks with you) ;)

I love this game. Only level 9 after a couple of hours. Need more cash to enter the strip now. Where (or when) can you get the .50 cal sniper? I've seen it at Gun Runners, but no option to buy it from that fagmo robot in the shed.

if you go to the 188 trading post they have one for a lil over 1000 caps! do the quest i talked about in post #27 for some mad caps. i think im up to like 8000 caps now. Also, in Novac if you compleat the quest there and are on good terms with that city they will give you the keys to a hotel room.


EDIT: IDK if it the 50 cal or not though. cant remember!

Just got in on the party for PC...seems pretty good so far.

I just did the quest for NCR where you have to kill all the legion members at cottonwood.

I'm trying to take my time and explore everything before I go to the strip.

yeah, im trying to stick to the side quests as much as possible! i cant wait for some exspansion packs to come out for this.

there are alot of quests in vegas that will get you alot of caps and you will come across some nice weapons at the same time.

didn't find one at 188. Completed vault 22 though and just entered the strip. My follower, Veronica is pretty damn funny in dialogue

where did you pick up her?

there are a few different traders at 188, one of them there has a sniper rifle. i dont think its a 50 cal though. i did a quest were i found a few sniper rifles.

She was at 188 post. Asked me if she could follow me. Found a 50 cal at gun runners now. It finally showed up now I have sufficient caps and level 14.

Anyone killed mr House yet?

I decided to see what all the talk was about and finally entered the strip. :)

I talked to Mr. House and went to get the chip from Benny. I was supposed to make my way to his room and look around, but I ran into him before I found his room. He said something about meeting in private and I figured that was when I would take him out and get the chip. He sent some guys up to the room instead and fled with the chip to a legion camp. That's where I'll pick up when I play next.

I really don't have time to be fucking with this game, but once I start playing an hour goes by like 10-15 mins!! :vash:

So far I like the game. I agree its pretty much a new fallout 3, but there's nothing wrong with that. I'm not sure how many hours I have into thus far, but the gf has fallen asleep on the couch a couple times now watching it. lol

Heading over to the great khans, but everywhere I go there's these fucking cazadores on meth. I need my companion back. Supposedly at the lucky 38 waiting for me, but haven't found her yet.

Even in fallout 3 I always roamed solo. Not to mention I have yet to find anyone that wanted to tag along with me anyway.... :cry:

In FO3 I had the big-ass supermutant tagging along with me. He was pretty epic with the gatling laser gun. Just set him loose against enemies, wait and loot the bodies and XP.:brain:

You can't finish the game without Fawkes. At least not without meeting him, and it's pretty easy to make him stick with you. After that it's up to you to get rid of him or not. I want the dog though. Probably need the animal quirk?

I didnt kill him but i disabled him. im trying to stay on the NCRs goodside. Im bout to go take out The Brotherhood of Steel though after i complete all their quest and see if i can get trained to wear their power armor before i destroy them. :giggle:

I disabled him first, then turned back to perform facial reconstruction surgery with a shotgun. Trying to side with NCR too and the legion already put a hit out on me. Pesky fuckers are strong

yeah, i think im gonna go back and set that motherfucker on fire! i got the NCR and The Brotherhood of Steel to come to a truce. if you join the Brotherhood they will train you for power armor. :D

Late to the thread, but +1. Honestly one of the worst games I'd ever played.

Just got New Vegas in hopes that it's better... It isn't. What's so fun about the games?

For reference, RPGs are my life. I played over 800 logged hours of Oblivion, but when Fallout came out I decided I would rather shit my pants than play it any more. All it's doing right now is wasting excessive amounts of space on my drive.

Any of you homos still playing? Just beat the game earlier today. Shitty thing is there's no more playing after finishing the main story, so keep a decent save ready before actually wrapping it up.

I just turned level 20 and decided to take on Cass and the ED robot as companions. It said when I went to add Boone that you cant have 2 at the same time, but for some reason it let me take on the robot.

I'm going to do everything I can before I go back to see yes man. You could defiantly tell that the whole "war at hoover dam" deal is the game ender. So I'm exploring all 4 corners first.

Right now I'm working on the NW areas. I still need to find the god damn shovel I had in the beginning of the game so I can dig up some of these graves!

What perks and skills are you guys going with? I picked the solar powered one for level 20. Brought my item weight limit to 270lbs, which really comes in handy.

I got fed up with the shitty quests I had left (run all the way across the map, do stupid shit and go back). Made it to level 24 after the final battle. Can't remember all the perks and stuff. Next run I'll give wild wasteland a try, should be fun. There's a shovel somewhere in Goodsprings for sale.

Also, my unarmed and melee skills were at max 20 points or so, yet I could kill cazadores quicker with fists than with guns skilled at 80?

Alright so my gf loaned me her copu of New Vegas because shes playing Fable right now.
Im ~11 hours in and about to go to vault 22, since I dont have 2k caps to get into the strip and continue the main quest.

Ive done a few side quests. I launches the gouls in the rockets at REPCO, I fought off the powder blasters at the beginning town (with all the optional stuff), I got Boone the sniper at the T-rex, and some other random shit.

Getting Boone is so fucking helpful, he saved my ass fighting those invisible fucks in the REPCO rocket place, and hes extremely helpful when Ive got swarms of shit to deal with.

Has anybody tried heading through the area infested with nightclaws? I figured Boone and I could go in there and tear ass up, but they raped us so hard. First hit cripples wherever it hits you, second hit kills you. Those things are absurd.

Im a big fan of RPGs, although most of them dont meet my standards. I felt FO3 was top notch for gameplay, not the greatest story, but overall it was excellent.

You can have up to 4 companions at one time ... 5 if you count a freeside body guard. I have Veronica and Rex right now - good melee tanks.

In vault 38 they got in the way every god damn time i would go into vats mode! I click vats and it targets the people that are with me before it targets the fucking enemy! WTF!

And not to mention they both would run off and get killed while I was searching around rooms and shit. I had to re-load like 20 times to get them back. I'm ready to just let them die, but I like the perks I have from them.

But really, I couldn't imagine 2 more people in the way and have to worry about. I'd end up tossing the controller at the screen! :bowrofl:

you know you can pull up a command screen for you compainions to tell them to wait or to attack and even access their inventory right?
