Falls Church, VA ebay car...why do I love these cars?
It's late and I'm on ebay with no intention to buy anything. I type in Volvo P1800 because that is my all time dream car. Why? I don't know. I love my Miata like no other car I ever had, but something about a pre '70 P1800 calls out to me. I'm not talking the crappy old factory 4 cylinder P1800, I'm talking V8 swap, gloss black, caged, totally custom interior, 17" torq thrust, 3" side exit ear shattering exhaust, don't F with me, street legal (barely) race car.

FYI. The 1978 Triumph Bonneville that I chopped and fabricated parts for went from hand clutch with foot shifter, to hand shifter with foot clutch. It also starts the only way a custom bike should...with a kicker pedal. Electric start is for bitches.

Reminds me of this local 1968 Chevelle Malibu. As far back as I can remember, this car has been sitting in a noticeable spot. People asked this guy to sell the car so many times, that he put a sign in the windshield that said "not for sale". I just drove by it yesterday. It is still sitting in the same place as it's been for 20 years, and the hood has such bad rust holes, you can see the air cleaner. Shit pisses me off.

My dad's 1948 Chevrolet p/u has been sitting on the side of our house for 15 years but he has been slowly amassing parts for a huge overhaul. Also, his three owner 1964 Corvette Stingray 'vert has been sitting in his buddy's garage since he sold it to him in 1973. It hasn't moved in nearly 40 years because the clutch exploded (the scattershield saved a leg or two) but it's in pretty decent shape considering.
I'm slated to get it for my 25th birthday but I won't be restoring it; I'll be keeping it period correct by getting the early-70s vintage stroker rebuilt but I'll update the suspension, brakes and tires. It has period fender flares, knock offs, factory hard top, original window sticker, bill of sale from original owner to my dad then on to his friend. The original nickname is still intact from its drag racing days. In the 10 years it was on the street, it was flogged mercilessly and I intend to continue the tradition. |

You wouldn't take them for free? There is a guy that lives across from my grandparent's house and he collects Corvairs. The corvair was said to be the ultimate 60's car. I think it was because production started in 1960 and ended in 1969...so I've been told.
I would've ebay'd those free cars and parts and made money. Think about it, you most likely could have funded your 5.0 swap! |
Wasn't worth the hassle and I didn't want to haul them. They are worth less than you think. Heck, he couldn't get $50 a piece. This was about three years ago, before any car was worth $200 in scrap. I almost took the Monza Spyder turbo, but the other two were 4 doors.
