Favorite band seen live?
Got a couple.
The Ramones NIN Revolting Cocks Social Distortion |
Iron Maiden/Anthrax.
|
The Killers
|
Pink Floyd
|
Papa Roach
Korn |
Stone Sour. Awesome vocals and stage presence. Also it was the wildest concert I've ever been to. Went with 2 friends and we lost track of each other 10 minutes in and didn't find each other until after the show ended.
|
Fuel was good back in the day.
The reunion tour that Van Halen did this year kicked serious ass though. :) |

I watched Victor Wooten do mind-blowing shit on his bass live.
He made Les Claypool look like an amateur. (saw him too) |
Gwar/Misfits hands down.
|
i saw stone temple pilots with the meat puppets back in the day. they put on a good show.
of course chatting up the local DJ got me a lot of great tickets to free shows in college. 311 was a lot of fun. pearl jam was not--3 encores after a 2.5 hour set zzzzzzzzzz. i'm all about the local indie bands now. i'd rather be in a small venue with a good beer than a huge show. or worse, a 20-band all-day festival. yawnz. |
Daft Punk
Ozma Both were kick ass concerts. I'm all about the much smaller venue stuff though. & y8s I would kill to see the meat puppets. |
Oh, this is a tough one.....
the 2 times i have seen TOOL and the one time i saw A Perfect Circle were something words cannot describe. Primus always puts on a very well animated show too. Incubus used to have really freakin' good visual effects too. I'm going to have to go with TOOL as being the all time best live show i've ever attended. |
I saw Deftones open for STP. That was a great show. I think my favorite show I've been to would have to be Biohazard. I saw them at a small club...it was packed and people were flyin everywhere.
|
Red Hot Chili Peppers last year I guess..
|
Cake, Foo Fighters, and Incubus.
Flobots was awesome too. |
Green Day, hands down.
|

Add Arcade Fire & Animal Collective in Barcelona.
I saw them at a 12 hour music festival while doing a study abroad in Switzerland. Now the shows were fucking amazing, but it was then entire experience that was ridiculously awesome. Flew into Barcelona with a friend with no plans, no hotel, nothing other than a return ticket and a concert ticket. Concert starts at 6pm. Stayed up all night dancing with like 50 + bands. We ended up befriending a coked up Italian and his two American girlfriends and hanging out with them. Arcade Fire went on at like 2am with something like fifty thousand people in the crowd. Insane crowd, insane show. Everyone was going nuts. Final band ( LCD Sound System, which was fucking shit nasty good) ended their set at 6am! After the concert my friend and I were so tired (the festival lasted from 6pm to 6am) we decided to get a train ticket and sleep on the train. We woke up in Valencia, Spn and decided to get off the train. We slept in a park only to be woken up by some Saints festival. We hadn't slept all night and we're sun burnt from our 1 hour nap on park benches. Hilariously enough the saint being honored on this particular Sunday morning was the patron saint of both long distance travelers and fireworks (or so we gathered). So as we attempt to nap hung-over in a park, along comes dozens of truckers blaring their horns and throwing firecrackers into the park. My friend and I wake up thinking its the second coming and just about flip out. Here is a video of that morning if you kids don’t believe me http://www.new.facebook.com/video/vi...subj=500837179 We then spend the day going from cafe to cafe taking hobo baths and sleeping in Starbuck's. We take a train back to Barcelona to go see Animal Collective that night. We're out of our minds at this point and spend the majority of the already psychedelic show acting like we're tripping balls. We leave the concert and wander around the streets of Barcelona at about 11pm. It’s Sunday night and we have a flight out at 6am back to Switzerland so we can go to class. We have no idea what we’re going to do, because in all reality we need sleep, and the drugs are wearing off (not really). We somehow meet something like 6 Auburn frat boys who were the biggest group of fish out of water I have ever seen. We immediately start talking about how nice it is to hear some fellow Americans and we end up hanging out with these kids all night, bar hopping till about 3am. We nearly get in a fight with a middle-aged Irish bartender woman after all of the Alabama boys think calling her a potato eater is a good idea. They end up letting us sleep in their hotel and we get about an hour of sleep before its time to go. I slept on a ironing board (no joke, they’re pretty comfy). We make it to the airport and we rushed through the airport trying to get to our plane. We make it just in time and were on a flight back to Lugano, Switzerland that morning. However I never made it to my 930AM class :) |
STP at Soma in San Diego back when I was in High School... they were filming that night and used the footage several music videos... my whole crew and I were the big dicks on campus for a months after that.
|
Genesis, Invisible touch tour.
NIN, when they opened for Peter Murphy at a little club in Detroit. Beach boys, only because I was 12, drunk, and high. Bad older sister and her hot friends. |
Lol brain, I saw gwar once. Everyone in the pit got covered in blue "blood".
My favorite live shows were: Darkest Hour, As I Lay Dying, Kataklysm, Thrice, In Flames. In that order. |
ac/dc, flogging molly, 311, and poison. In that order.

I can't believe I'm the first person to give this answer: the hands-down best LIVE band in the whole friggin' universe is the heart stoppin', pants droppin', house rockin', earth shakin', booty quakin', Viagra takin', love makin', air conditioner shakin', heart breakin', history makin', legendary, E STREET BAND.
Nobody else comes close. |
I typed up that huge fucking story, and not 1 comment or anything.
/whine |
I've seen a bunch, and I think the best live show was the Deftones.
No, wait - the best live show was the Blue Man Group. Saw them in NYC and in Jax, and they were amazing. NYC was the better show, smaller and more mind-fucky. But as far as music I'd listen to, Deftones, 311, Metallica, SOAD, etc. in that order. |
Fuckin' Slayer.
Duh. All the rest is pussy. Recently saw Exodus and they were great... in a washed-up meth-head sort of way; still very tight, angry, loud, etc. |
I can't believe I had to wait for post 28 to finally see it listed...
BLUE MAN GROUP |
Incubus was a damn good show and I enjoyed Avenged Sevenfold when I saw them too.
|
Blue Man Group, really? Saw 'em in Baltimore 2 years ago. Meh. One other that made the list that I'm shocked with. Red Hot Chili Peppers. They were horrible when I saw them at the WHFS Festival in Baltimore.
I'm a hair band guy and saw almost every one back in the '80s. I saw someone mention Poison. Funny thing is they ripped off their whole act from a local Balt-DC band Kix. Kix was the best live band ever. I probably saw them 30 times at the legendary Hammerjacks back in the day. Great shows I've seen. AC/DC, Metallica for Master of Puppets tour, Scorpions, Iron Maiden. I've had fun at some hippie shows like Crosby, Stills, Nash and Young. I saw Jimmy Buffet at Margaritaville in Key West when he just showed up and played a set for unsuspecting guests at the bar. The Firm (Jimmy Page, Paul Rodgers) was good and I got the biggest contact buzz of my life. I've mellowed a bit in my old age and saw Pat Monahan (lead singer of Train) at a small venue in VA and he kicked ass. Great voice and he does an incredible cover of Led Zep's Whole Lotta Love. Frank |
Brian Setzer Orchestra.
|
System of a Down...
Also saw Puddle of Mudd a few weeks ago.. solid. Got lower level metallica tickets (8), for the Jan show in DC. |

AWESOME. What was that 1989? I got the shirt around here some where. I also have to say Metallica with Queensryche opening for the ...And justice for all tour was great too. Kiss never disappoints. I also checked out Megadeath last year in a small club, they rocked! |
Green Day-Sacramento, The Kooks and The Arctic Monkeys in Portland, and Back Door Slam in Bend Oregon.

Saw him 2 years ago with the Flecktones - going to again 12/13. The man can play. I saw X, Zappa and Sprigsteen/E-Street all in the same month years ago - that was an amazing stretch. |
Marilyn Manson
AC/DC - Havent seen yet, going on November 13th. BLACK ICE TOUR BABY YEA |
naarlevin - agreed with arcade fire. i saw them in here in 2004, in a smallish venue, and it was the best show i'd ever been to.
until i saw radiohead. everything about that show was incredible. |
pink floyd (roger waters) in the garden about 10 years ago. And De La Soul in central park 2 years ago.
|
Flogging Molly, Presidents of the United States of America, and Cowboy Mouth (seen them 3 times now) are all my favorite shows so far. Red Hot Chili Peppers Californication Tour w/ Foo Fighters is right up there too though.

This thread has made me reminisce about all of the shows I've seen thus far; Misfits twice, ICP (got shut down halfway through), Metallica twice, 311 twice, SOAD, Ozzy, Rob Zombie twice, Limp Bizkit, Korn, Kid Rock, Chevelle, etc, etc, etc. I saw those Yellowcard fags play at my sister's high school twice years before they were on TV and got their heads inflated (they turned into a bunch of dicks at the Maxim Superbowl party in '05 thinking they were hot shit). |

Know what though, I have to say, the Barenaked Ladies concerts were the most fun concerts I've ever gone to. Three concerts, all amazing in their own ways. Those guys are amazingly entertaining. I'd love to see Radiohead. And the Chemical Brothers... And fuck the Dust Brothers, but I don't think they play live (fight club soundtrack is awesome, and the Beck album) that reminds me, Beck. Oh Cake would be fun too, I love singing in monotone. And Buffet, because he's Buffet. I'd REALLY love to see the beasties, I know nearly as much of their material as they do, and I still haven't seen them live. But Fuck bruce springstein, because I absolutely hate a few guys that have nothing in common (besides being cretins) but a love for bruuuuce. Fuck the Super Bowl this year. |
Soulja Boy FTW...
|
Megadeth and Rage are what I listen to when I work out. If I went to either's show, I'd have to dead-lift someone. :-)
Saw Korn and Snoop at lolapalooza way back in the day. I was totally disappointed with Tricky, as they did a bunch of dumb shit, but not Hell Is Around the Corner Just one of those odd old AMP videos I thought was cool. |
I remember I was in 5th or 6th grade at the time. I stepped out of my Mom's car and some headbanger fuck yelled "Disneylands 200 miles that way!"
Hahahah. Good times.

I've seen Cake. Not bad, but those fuckers didn't play the one song I wanted to hear ... The Distance.
Was massively impressed by the Cult earlier this year. They are probably better as a band now compared to where they were 20 years ago. Seriously dissapointed in the Ministry a couple of years ago. Had high hopes for them, but it ended up being boring and just loud. Beastie Boys would be my dream show. |
Wow some great bands listed here.
On a large scale - KISS (with make up in early years, w/o makeup, and reunion were great)! Another that stands out for me was Primus with Rush. Two of the best Bass players ever playing together on the stage at the same time was phenominal. On a smaller note, Social Distortion was the best band I've seen in a bar for a mere $5.00 |
