+1

Rick Di Fonzo and Snowy White playing 80 feet in the air to 350,000 people on top of what used to be the Berlin wall. Even though I cannot stand hearing Van Morrison singing it, the best guitar solo ever played for a record crowd eight months after the wall was torn down was terribly historic.

See 5:05 for the solo:

I am (hopefully) picking up a Epiphone Les Paul Ultra tonight (hey, sounds almost as good as the real thing and I am saving $2,500 <G>). I bought used Fender Squire with uncharacteristic killer action and tone a few months ago to complete the pair so I will be playing both parts soon. You gotta love inexpensive guitars that sound great.

NA6C-Guy 05-11-2010 03:53 PM

Best I've heard hands down.

Another one of the best.

rmcelwee 05-11-2010 04:03 PM

I have a friend who played on the road for 20+ years and he swears this Vito Bratta solo is the best ever (starts @ 2:20). He can play pretty much anything (as opposed to me - I can't play hardly anything) so I have to respect his opinion on this.

Braineack 05-11-2010 04:14 PM

2:18

3:18

(3:24 - 4:29 really)

Can you copy and paste? If so, when you make a post, click the YouTube button, and it will bring up the letters YT in square brackets. Click the embed link on the YouTube video page, which is to the lower right, copy the link it brings up, paste it between the YT brackets and thats it. NOT HARD! :loser: :giggle:

I was about to post this exact post, dead serious. 100% the same. I just came home blasting this in my Audi.

EDIT: Also, the solo from Hey You is perfectly creepy.

jbresee 05-11-2010 07:21 PM

Love the Prince cut - I hadn't heard it. Let's kick it old school with some Zappa:

Rafa 05-11-2010 08:05 PM

I give up

wayne_curr 05-11-2010 08:09 PM

Thank you for the zappa.

Livin on a prayer accoustic.

levnubhin 05-11-2010 08:52 PM

I can't wait until I get to work tomorrow to listen to all these.

Just got back from picking up the new axe and amp. I'm now one step closer to Jimmy Page!

The pick guard didn't last a full minute at my house before the screwdriver came out...

Good, I hate those pick guards. Ruins the beautiful look. Nice guitar.

I was a junkie of 80s hairbands and the best guitar solo I've seen was from Akira Takasaki of the Japanese band Loudness. Compilation below. He was fast before most of the speed guys were fast.

That dude had to have gotten a lot of play in the day.

Hell, I'd almost let him strum on my virgin hole after watching that :giggle:

Jk, here's my contribution (to the thread, not the Guttermouth song)

Killswitch cover of an oldie by Dio, with a little bit of a video tribute to the original. I like the harder version better. (just had some weird dejavu too).

About 2:08, short, simple, not overly technical

And of course Sanitarium...

If you are talking about not overly technical solos, you MUST listen to this solo also at 2:08. You've probably heard the song a million times (well, if you were from my generation you would have) but never really thought about what he was doing on the solo.
