I think it would have been ******* awesome if he would have just left it alone on the outside. Going through extra trouble to make it look like trash is what ruined it a bit for me.
For instance, it would not have been very hard to run the speedo into the cabin. It would not have been much harder to run a real gas gauge. A new replacement taillight would have cost all of $20. The wooden front splitter is just garbage, at least put a tiny bit of effort into it. Running the oil cooler into the mouth of the bumper would not have been any harder at all, just as functional, and would look good.
The cut in the hood I'm okay with. It needed the clearance. The rest of the car is pretty damn awesome imo.

Again, if he did NOTHING for the looks and only go-fast bits, I would agree with you. But having oil coolers and speedos on your hood makes you no different than any other ricer, regardless of what is under the hood.
He's 19, hopefully one day he grows out of it. Until then, I will help him grow out of it by calling it out for what it is.

I'm not setting up races here and I'm not saying he is faster than you or anyone else. I'm just saying he does in fact care about performance...
The only track time i know of that he has is in Lemons racing when he was 17 i think. He didn't care much for the track since he lived at the bottom of a road that is much more versatile than any track around.

Lemon racers dont drive their cars on the streets.
If he really cared about performance then maybe he can get some new tires and stop wasting them.

The car weighs around 2400-2500lbs.
Comparison:
My brothers 350z makes 400whp on Stillen's dyno at 9psi.
The RX-7 is faster.

Its been on a dyno and it was tuned by a reputable tuner here in So Cal. the car made 330whp. Nothing was said about 400whp, i said 400hp. Crank hp.
