I loved the vid, and at first was really impressed. But the more I thought about it, the more it irked me.

$13,000...

$13K in parts, and purposely not giving a **** about how it looks. You can claim it's functional, but there's a lot of stupid **** that is asking to break, just for the purpose of being odd:

-oil lines pushed through jagged holes in hood, which will obviously scrape every time you open hood
-untreated wooden front air dam will rot, fall off, and maybe puncture holes in underside
-speedo designed for climate controlled interior duck-taped to hood, yep, that'll last /rolls eyes
-literally offensive stickers. I liked pedobear, discrete, and a funny meme, but "LOL" that blinks with important safety indicators and "MY OTHER RIDE IS YOUR MOM"...yeah, you're just being a dickface

Some of the other oddball stuff is artistic license and subject to individual taste (like chopping off 1/3rd of tach just to replace with Sharpie line indicators), so we'll let it slide. But I guess my real gripe is that just for a little more effort it could have been really clean. A lot of the junk could have been done right, and made to last, for the same amount of effort.

I get rat rods, which is the only thing I'd let myself sink that kind money into to look purposefully patina'd. This isn't a rat rod. It looks like a budget build, but the budget doesn't reflect that.

Yes, it'd be a FANTASTIC Lemons car...if it wouldn't incur the People's Curse 30x over...

I like the car. I mean, it's a kind of art. Not "high" art, more like the beat up guitar that some kid found and took the theme a little farther. There are lots of those guitars and cars out there that look like they came out of a third grade art class. Most of them actually, but I like what this kid did. I like the tachometer with half the numbers in sharpy. You have to be a little bit of an artist to pull that off. I know, some of you think all it takes is to be lazy and not give a ****, but then you end up with something that looks like it came out of a third grade at class.

In any case, if it actually makes you mad then the artist was successful. Good for him.

I had to live through my share of conceptual art in... ...art school.

As an expert, I have little to no apprecation for it. But I disagree, when you have work for a reaction, you've already defeated the point.

Consider my responses which caused the reactions of frantic defense, art.

You're implying the tach doesn't look like a 3red grader did it?

https://www.facebook.com/photo.php?f...type=3&theater

I made my own tach when I was 17 I'm sure plenty of Miata owners have as well. He spent like 5 min

I just wanted to build a purpose driven sports car with tons of power on the cheap without copying other people's ideas:

Whatever. We disagree, so what? I like it, you don't. It's not as though we can argue our way to the right answer.

Its a joke. Except its not funny cause he's trying too hard.

Does that not make sense?

We're not all mad about it like OP thinks, we're indifferent. But when he brought this thread here, with the specific intention of arguing with people and getting reactions, he's getting them.

Doesn't mean any of us, having seen that car on the street IRL, would give a single crap about it or have any emotion towards it whatsoever. It'd be another POS beater we'd either ignore, or at best laugh at.

I seriously LOL'd when he said he has 13k in parts on it, then mentioned a bunch of mediocre-at-best parts held together with snot and chicken wire
