finally, a new intake

finally got rid of the stock corrugated msm intake piece and made custom stainless one(well Tim made it). the msm IHI turbo has a small inlet, 1.875" od so we used a stainless transition from Burns to 2.5" then 2.5" out to the filter.

DON'T LOOK DIRECTLY AT THIS NEXT ONE!

TIm, I need a tig, please advise :)

I advise you to pay me to weld for you. ;)

I have a Lincoln TIG185. The model is now a 215 I think, same thing but more amps and a 120vac outlet for a watercooler or whatever. It's perfect to learn on and works great most things I've done. You gotta let it cool down some when building manifolds (weld for a few minutes, eat a pretzel rod, weld again, etc), but exhausts it's fine. Aluminum intake plumbing is no problem either. I've done 1/4" aluminum on it but it starts to get a little tricky and the wiring at the shop can't handle the current. Circuit breakers going in the middle of a weld isn't fun.

If starting out now I would get the all-for-one which includes a MIG. My dad's old Mig doesn't cut it for what I want to do sometimes.

After I buy a house I'm going to go with the Tig375. We have one at work (my day job) and it's beautiful. I used it to make my intake manifold and the difference in difficulty welding that 1/4 aluminum was insane. It was just as easy as steel, I couldn't believe it. I'd find myself giggling in the middle of a weld. I was at 250 amps all night long and the torch never got warm. There's so many adjustment's it's incredible. The guys here use it to add aluminum to cylinder heads.......

I have only used lincoln's, never tried a miller but I'm sure they are good too.

man, i just can't escape the radiator rips. How bout this? Do a search(bet ya never heard that on this forum) and you'll see I intend to buy that $190 all aluminum rad on eBay soon.
