Time to organize legitimate races at the drag strips! The local track here has non elimination bracket racing catering to street racers every Friday and Saturday night.

Quick lesson. Don't break laws and you don't get tickets! Whether the law is legitimate or not is up for the higher courts to decide.

04 Miata 06-23-2009 05:32 PM

Did my share of street racing when I was young but we did it in a place where there was no way anyone would get hurt. Road had no cross road for miles and the road got blocked at both ends when a run started. I agree the track is the right place to run but there aren't tracks everywhere because of people wanting them closed for noise. We lost 2 tracks in our area in the last few years.

That said this is just plain BS. Ticketing people for watching and putting points on their license is something that should be taken to court and make them get it declared either legal or illegal.

sixshooter 06-23-2009 05:57 PM

The only track for 35 miles is closed early every night it is open because of noise constraints.

One screwy aspect of this is that most of the people there are just there to hang out with friends and aren't racing or doing burnouts, etc.

More random people do burnouts in front of my house than out on that roadway. Between the attention my GTO and my neighbor's Mustang gathers, everybody that drives by is showing off when they leave the four way stop in front of my house.

I have friends who streetrace like this. I don't even go to the meets because it's been illegal to watch for quite a while.

I know a guy who spent 6 months in jail for streetracing, too (although I assume it was aggravated by some evasion as well).

lawlz, idiot.

Street racing is illegal. Its like watching any other stupid, idiotic, and dangerous crime and doing nothing about it. Take a lesson from the 17 year old who's smart enough to stay away.

r808 06-23-2009 08:32 PM

Those $20 toss pillows on page 3 are hot!

Seriously though, nothing in the article about building a track, or about problems with the existing track being closed.

And street racing does not compare to murder, rape, etc.

SayNoToPistons 06-23-2009 08:50 PM

Fucking nazi.

elesjuan 06-23-2009 08:52 PM

Street racing totally and easily kills more people every day than drugs, cigarettes, and criminal murder.

Fucking PLEASE.

The ONLY reason its even remotely a problem is because like everything else, a few fucking idiots ruin everything for everyone. If it wasn't for those three stupid ------ ass piece of shit movies this topic wouldn't even exist!

That's as cool as the $180 ticket I got for "spinning in parking lot". That's right. I got a ticket for spinning in a snow covered vacant parking lot in Wisconsin.

Street racing is dumb, but there are groups who organize it safely on empty stretches of road. They should get a little credit for that, maybe like a nice $100 fine with no points. But not for watching.

Ha!

I got "pulled over" in a parking lot doing the same thing about 10 years ago. Fortunately it was the parking lot of the company where I worked, and I had my employee ID badge on me. No ticket, fortunately. I just explained (truthfully) that having just moved from Florida I'd never driven in snow before, and was having about as much fun as a kid with a new toy.

r808 06-23-2009 09:30 PM

Wait aren't parking lots considered private property?

18psi 06-23-2009 09:38 PM

Around here they are. As long as you're in a parking lot usually they act like they will end your life but end up letting you go.

Yes, They are. A friend and fellow board member and myself got pulled over 20 minutes and 8 miles later for cutting "Cookies" in a private parking lot that was 100% totally and completely empty on a holiday afternoon. Stupid pigs will be more than happy to write tickets for it, but won't give one flying motherfuck if someone jacks up your car (same shit happened to him, SAME fucking parking lot... 4000$ in damages) or runs into it. "Nope, we won't come to private property." Fucking worthless, cops are.

magnamx-5 06-24-2009 12:43 AM

they cant ticket you on private property dude. You shoulda been like listen here buddy the most you can do is tresspassing wich i doubt you can get to stick so get your stupid fat donut eating ass back to the meth whores you left when my car gave you a hard on.
I would love to see the wording on the law they cite in charging these florida people, its probly vague as all get out. Some rich motherfucker prob had his daddys vet showed up by a fast miata and he decided to get his daddys freinds the cops in there to show them a thing or two.

Same here, except it was $210. Disorderly conduct with a motor vehicle. My insurance rates just finally came down after 3 years.

fmowry 06-24-2009 07:50 AM

Maybe I'm just getting old but:

2 spectators killed in street race June 22 north of Baltimore.

I used to drive like and idiot, street race, and do all sorts of stupid shit. If I want to go fast now I'll hit the drag strip.

Frank
