Forgot to tell you guys that a friend of mine e-mailed me a couple days ago after driving the Fuji-car. FWIW, my friend Ian is a national-caliber autocrosser and has recently begun road racing.:
"Hey man, Yeah Jimmy talked me into taking his car out to Laguna to run the
time attack. The car was a complete guess for setup as it's never really
seen a track. The seat was in the wrong position. The wing on the back I
think hurt us. We ended the weekend with tranny problems. Lost 3rd and 5th
gear. I was lucky the handling wasn't a complete nightmare as I just kinda
said... lets try these spring rates with no actual method or theory behind
choosing them. Ran a decent time of a 1:44.4 which is quicker then most spec
miata's. Doing track stuff you learn to respect the times the top spec
miata's run.... those boys are fast! Anyway had a heck of a time.
You can see all my video's on Youtube.
Here is the link to the laguna video..

Talk with ya later.
Ian"
I don't particularly feel like registering with Club Roadster just to read the thread you guys are talking about, so forgive me if this is a re-post.

Here's what a friend told me that was there...
"I didn't want to say anything on the forum because jimmy really is a nice guy. but that car is the most unprepared death trap I have ever seen on a race track. The fact that Ian was willing to get in it amazes me. The hood pins were loose, the rear spoiler had ZIPTIES holding it on, the harnesses were from the 70s, only the rollbar of the cage was installed leaving 2 jagged pipes sticking off the rollbat to impale your head on, etc. "
