Fireworks reports
So let's start up a thread on what you have tried this year, what you liked, and what is weak. I need to load up on the way home for a party I am throwing tomorrow night. Fireworks are legal at my place, and I have a lot of pent-up firework/bonfire frustration due to the two-year firework/burn ban we have been under from the latest drought. It finally started raining a few months ago and things are much better. Time to blow some shit up and burn lots of juniper trees. I am tempted to try some crazy stuff too. Hopefully I will live through the night in one piece.
What does a redneck say right before he dies? "Hey dude, watch this!" Shogun Zillionaires http://ep.yimg.com/ip/I/yhst-2137041..._2054_17392676 I am a big fan of reloadable shells. They are the best thing that happened to consumer fireworks in recent memory IMO. I bought some of these Zillionaire reloadables this week and fired off a couple tonight. Pretty bad ass. They are a combo mine/shell if I am using correct firework vernacular. It comes out of the tube with a huge bang, with some colored sparks (the mine portion) then the shell flies up and goes off with another large bang and more display stuff (the shell part). It is pretty quiet out at my place with lots of hills and the echoes trailed out for several seconds after the shell went off. Awesome. I'll be buying more tomorrow. I hope to find a good deal locally and buy a butt load. Only negative is they are pretty ghey looking, like a dildo from a bad sci-fi porn movie. Those of you who are local and have been invited but are not coming to my house tomorrow night for whatever reason (you know who you are) are going to miss out :loser: :giggle: |

we used to get pretty crazy but they really cracked down on this stuff in my area. we'd drive down to patriot fireworks in maryland and drive back with a car load of stuff. I definitely recommend a wholesale wharehous type place i've you're buying from a stand. i was always a fan of the saturn 750 and the roll of 20,000 which we wouldn't unroll. we also glued something like 32 pvc pipes on a peice of wood and loaded up our own shells.

That's funny. MDers drive up to Phantom in PA. They both probably have the "we don't sell to our own state residents" rule or something. SC probably has better shit though. Been a few years since I tried to catch my back yard on fire. Frank |
Yep there are a couple of the mega-stores as they call them here. On the way home I am going to check them out for prices.
A site I found last night with firework reviews and info. Here is a thread discussing the Zillionaires. Zillionaire - Pyro Universe You know, I have one of those HF mega-BTU propane torches. That would be perfect for lighting thousands of fuses at once, like one of those huge firecracker rolls. Hmmm... |
Reloadable Mortars are the bomb! Yeah stupid pun but it's absolutley true. The bigger ones you can get are great for the money.
The prefabbed boards with a bunch of mortars in series are always a good finale if you don't mind wasting a hunsky on 1 minute of fireworks. |

We are trying to figure out the thrust of a typical bottle rocket to make a rocket bicycle out of 200+ firing at the same time. Oh yeah I feel like I am 14 again.

Soo, what does a case of something like this cost anyhow?
Looks like damn good fun!! Cheers, Prospero

The going rate seems to be $2.50 - $3.50 a shell for most brands. I think the box of Zillionaires I bought was $37 at the local fireworks stand IIRC.

I spend a lot of time in Missouri for work and the fireworks stands (the big ones) are open all year long. Lots of rockets and artillery shells to choose from. |
If you are in the area I did some pricing research this afternoon. Stay away from Mr. W and Alamo. Their pricing is criminal both at the 'Super-stores' and the stands, even when their 'buy-one-get-one-free' pricing is considered. People are lining up to buy at their inflated prices too.
See if you can find a Fiesta Fireworks stand. It is a small independent place. Their reloadables are selling for 1/2 of what Alamo and Mr. W are charging FOR THE SAME STUFF. I cleaned out their stock of Zillionaires and 'Smoke and Mirrors' which is also supposedly a good one. |
