First Tattoo

Got it yesterday, seems to be healing well. I've been wanting to get a tattoo for about 6 years and it's been a toss up between this one and another one for the last 2-3 years. This was the final decision. I'll probably still get the other one too, just not for a while since they are a lot more expensive that I thought.

Comments welcome... my feelings aren't easily hurt, but I will fire back if you say something too out of line.

*edit* it's on my calf.

is that a growing wrench? i gues it's cool what was the other image. Kudos on making the commitment. I never could bring myself to make such a permanent change.

what size wrench? metric or standard?

i can never think of something i want or should i say fiigure out.

that came out pretty good.

Thanks guys... I'm pleased with it. The image is actually out of the front cover of "Zen and the Art of Motorcycle Maintenance". I thought it suited me well. I had the artist shade it better than in the book (the wrench is solid black in the book).

it's pretty cool. i could never get inked. all i think about is all those grandmas with wrinkly lower back tats.

but grampa with the old anchor on the forearm is cool. blow me down.

My first tattoo was for my older sister Maryn who passed away.

sweet... keep 'em comming guys. I'd like to see some of the other stuff car junkies get.

SOL, very nice. I wish I could say mine was so meaningful, but it's not. You used ink the way god intended...

SOL General 08-06-2007 09:53 AM

Yea, I get alot of compliments on it. I also have her name underneath it. It was a beautiful picture that I thought had alot of meaning.

Yours looks nice aswell, Were you thinking of any wording? Maybe craftsman will give you a sponsorship if you put their name on it :)

Looks good Arkmage.

I've always thought the skull with the crossed pistons was cool. I can't find a good example that I like now. The cartoon skull has always look best to me. Maybe something on the forehead of the skull? I think I saw one with a round vw logo on the forehead. I don't think I want a VW logo on my body, but it looked cool.

Hrmmm ... that was a stream of consciousness.

Uncle Arthur 08-07-2007 09:04 AM

OMG!!!!! That's just odd!!!

Ummm... no. That would be the part I regret... I change loyalty to tool companies on a monthly basis. It seems like a real hit or miss or most brands. It's a shame I can't afford snap-ons line-up.

I know a guy that got a set of 200lbs dumbells on the top of his foot and the words "never lift" written under it.

jayc72 08-07-2007 10:36 AM

I've got a Traditional Japanese full sleeve on my left arm of a dragon. Never regretted it or the other work I have. I always wanted to get somthing car related, but never found anything I was willing to live with for any length of time.

Take good care of it, you can fuck up a good (or bad) tattoo easily if you don't heal it correctly. I use the barely fuck with it approach and it has worked pretty well.

Arkmage 08-07-2007 12:33 PM

I've been doing exactly what the artist told me too... minimal scabbing and irritation, but I think it's going to turn out alright.
