Seriously, at least get a decent brand name TV. All of the "off brand" TV's I've seen just don't compare in image quality to even the lesser "name brand" TV's.

I have a Samsung LCD monitor 22" for 3 years no issues with
and a Samsung LCD tv 47" for a year now with no issues. So far I've no issues with samsung and feel they are strong product compared to others.
Also have a Sharp Aquos 26" lcd from 2005 thats still rocking it fine.

I've repaired 3 broken LCD monitors because of bad caps by replacing the caps with new ones on their power supplys, I have also done the same for motherboards. Just check around each board for a blown cap, it may not have stuff showing out of it, its top maybe just domed a tad or it could be blown from the bottom pushing it up more.

Never had a Plazma yet, I probably skip over to LED tv next time.

Trust me...I checked and double checked the caps...wish it had been that easy. I even did a simple resistance check on them. I know that's usually the issue with the power supply, but unfortunately it looks like in this case one of the buffers died and took the power supply with it.

I know I'll never buy another Samsung. I could understand if the thing was always on...but between school and work and our active family life it maybe averages 1.5hrs a day. No excuse for it.

Random note:

It would appear that the last of the rear-projection sets have vanished from Crutchfield's website, signalling the end of an era (Although BestBuy still has a few Mitsus on their website. )

Why, God? Why did you take CRTs from us without furnishing us the knowledge of of how build reliable LCoS modules or cost-effective triple-laser DLP arrays?

RPTV is gone simply for packaging reasons. You can fit a lot of plasmas on a truck or stock room in place of a single RPTV.

I think the failure of LCoS has to due with Sony and their ability to screw up everything.
JVC gave a good run with DiLA, which was very cool, especially the Pro models.
