FREE Miata !!!

I got this for free yesterday. The PO wants me to put a stereo in their other Miata and I did pay $45 for a day of tow dolly rental but other than that it was free. Yes, it is a rust bucket for sure but it should be good for a few projects. I'm thinking about putting a gas grill under the hood. OR, pulling the engine and doing the old rods as legs and pistons as feet artwork thing. OR, copying Paul's bumper on the ceiling thing. OR, hell, I don't know. Any ideas?

FWIW, the doors/mirrors have been pulled off for a later sell, the finish panel looks "OK", and that is about it. Not too much to scavenge on it. Will probably do a very quick strip and then call the salvage yard to have them tow it away. I'm not sure I feel like cutting it in pieces and taking it to the scrap yard to sell at $.04 a pound...

Where are you from, how bout the doors if your near CT?? I could use a set of doors that are'nt gutted...

The carpet was toast (at the dump now). The doors are nice but I am in Charleston, SC.

I was going to blast you for not trying to resurrect it until i saw the last picture. Ouch.

Glad I don't live in a part of the world where cars get eaten alive like that.

Me too. How in the hell did it do that in Charleston? I'm guessing the guy drove it around in the ocean for a while...

Cut it in half down the center and mount it up against a wall. The glass could be tricky.

How does the right front fender look? Mine is toast and I need a new one.

Doppelgänger Apr 24, 2009 12:16 PM

Hack up the nose/fenders/firewall and make it a trailer so people behind you think a Miata is coming head-on at them driving down the road :giggle:

Yeah, i've hear of people using the rears like that... but the front would be way cooler.
OR

Use some of the fron and some of the rear and make the worlds shortest Miata..but as a trailer :lmao:

You should add a big ricer aluminum wing on it and some Sportmax's :giggle:

We washed it up and the fender looks pretty good. Some light scratches and a very small deep scratch towards the bumper but that is it. I wouldn't be willing to ship so are you up for a road trip <G>...

Actually, it is pretty far off but I wouldn't have a problem bring it with me to Deals Gap this year.

Unfortunately I'll be in Toledo, OH at a Pro Solo the weekend of MATG. I'll let you know if someone local may be going that can pick it up, but it may not be worth the hassle.

Where exactly are you located anyways?
